The cruise price includes all meals in the main and buffet restaurants, as well as coffee, water, tea, and iced tea during the buffet’s opening hours. Most onboard facilities and activities (e.g., use of sun loungers and pools on the outer deck, shows in the theatre, gym, etc.) are also included in the package.

Important

Princess Cruises adds an automatic crew gratuity of US$17 (~€15) per person, per day to your onboard account.

If you live in Europe, we recommend booking through Travel-Dealz, and if you live in the USA, book via CruiseDirect, as long as the price difference is not significant. If the difference is considerable, you can choose the cheaper option, but keep in mind that the consumer guarantees are different for Americans and Europeans.

During the winter season, both the Star Princess and the Sun Princess are offering additional departures to the Western Caribbean and the Eastern Caribbean at slightly higher prices. Below, we provide a list of the departures with the most advantageous prices. Please note that these may be different itineraries on both ships, although the Sun and Star Princess are sister ships, so the experience on board is practically similar.

Route

Your journey begins in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a city famous for its beautiful beaches and intricate canal system. Before you board the Star Princess, you could spend time exploring the upscale shops and restaurants on Las Olas Boulevard or enjoy a scenic tour of the “Venice of America” by water taxi.

After a relaxing day at sea to familiarise yourself with the ship, your first port of call is Roatán, Honduras. This idyllic island is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, making it a paradise for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts who want to explore its vibrant underwater world.

Next, you’ll arrive in Belize City, the gateway to incredible Mayan ruins like Altun Ha and Xunantunich. Alternatively, you can explore the diverse marine life of the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site, by taking a boat trip to one of the nearby cayes. Another sea day follows, giving you ample time to enjoy the ship’s world-class amenities.

Your final stop is Puerto Costa Maya in Mexico, where you can relax on the beaches of the fishing village of Mahahual or discover the ancient Chacchoben Mayan ruins, hidden deep in the jungle. After one last, relaxing day at sea, the cruise concludes back where it started in Fort Lauderdale.

Visa Info

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$21 (~€19) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.

There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

The Ships

These are the 2 ships that you can travel with:

Star Princess

The Star Princess, launched in 2025, is Princess Cruises’ newest Sphere-class ship and carries around 4,300 passengers. At roughly 175,000 gross tons, it is significantly larger than most of the line’s earlier vessels, reflecting Princess’s move toward offering more space and variety while keeping its focus on a mid-market, international audience.

The design incorporates Princess’ recent innovations, such as the glass-enclosed Dome at the top of the ship, which functions as a pool area by day and an entertainment space at night. The Piazza, a multi-level atrium at the heart of the ship, serves as a social hub with cafés, bars, and live performances. Outdoor decks feature multiple pools, hot tubs, and sunbathing areas, along with space for deck games and quiet lounging.

Dining spans from the traditional main dining rooms and buffets to a range of speciality restaurants offering Italian, steakhouse, and international cuisines.

Cabins range from compact inside staterooms to suites with large balconies, with an emphasis on offering more private outdoor space than on many previous Princess ships. Overall, the Star Princess is designed to balance large-ship amenities and entertainment with the line’s reputation for a more relaxed, classic cruise experience.

Sun Princess

The Sun Princess, was delivered in 2024 as the first of Princess Cruises’ new Sphere-class ships. At about 175,000 gross tons, it represents a shift toward bigger ships with more choice and variety, while still keeping many of the hallmarks of the Princess brand.

It’s basically very similar to the Star Princess, also offering The Dome, the Piazza, and multiple pools. Dining options range from traditional main dining rooms and buffets to a wider-than-usual choice of speciality restaurants, covering Italian, Japanese, steakhouse, and other international cuisines. A variety of bars and lounges cater to different atmospheres, from casual to more refined settings.

Cabins follow a modern, lighter design, with many offering balconies and some new categories that feature larger terraces. As with its sister ship, the Star Princess, the overall experience blends large-ship amenities with Princess’s focus on a more relaxed, classic cruising style, making it a bridge between traditional cruising and the scale of newer resort-style vessels.
