Qantas Frequent Flyer: Double Points or Status Credits for Bookings Made Before March 18 (Registration Required)

Qantas Boeing 787

Oneworld member Qantas is offering members of its loyalty program Frequent Flyer an interesting promotion for bookings made before March 18, 2025. If you are travelling on Qantas marketed and operated flights before February 24, 2026, you can choose if you want to earn double Status Credits or (Award) Points for these trips. Once you’ve made your choice, it will be applied to all eligible bookings.

You need to register for the promotion to be eligible for the bonus.

Qantas Double Points Promo

Flights operated by Qantas’ subsidies and regional partners Alliance Airlines, National Jet, Airlink, Eastern Australia Airlines and Sunstate Airlines are eligible for this offer, too. The same goes for flights QF291, QF292, QF295 and QF296, which are operated by Finnair. Only flights after March 19, 2025 count towards the promotion. Existing bookings are not part of the promotion. You can find the full terms and conditions here.

Instant Oneworld Sapphire Still (Too) Expensive

To gain Oneworld Sapphire status (which gives alliance wide lounge access and free checked bags on most flights), you need to earn 700 credit points within a year. According to Qantas’ Mileage Calculator, a business class roundtrip from Sydney to London (or vice versa) would earn 560 credit points, without the promotion. That means a single booking could secure you a frequent flyer tier. However, you need to book by March 18 and prices are outrageous (around €6,000).

A business class roundtrip from Sydney to Los Angeles (360 credit points) would also be enough to surpass 700 credit points with the promotional bonus, but prices for these are even higher. You can find an overview of status benefits and requirements here and Qantas’ status calculator here.
