Members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club loyalty program can earn bonus Avios on specific flights between Doha and Australia next summer. All that is necessary to get the bonus Avios is booking a ticket for the six affected flights between December 12, 2024 and January 20, 2025, and enter your membership number during booking.

Oneworld member Qatar Airways owns an ownership stake in Virgin Australia. During the upcoming summer (or Australian winter), the airlines will fly three routes from Doha to Australia, namely to Sydney, Brisbane and Perth under a codeshare flight number. The nature of these flights is a bit curious: They are marketed by Virgin Australia, but operated by Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, staffed with Qatar Airways crews. Virgin Australia retired all of its own long-haul aircraft during the pandemic.
The flights are operated between June 12 and September 30, 2025. These are the affected routes and cheapest one-way prices available:
VA 1
Sydney to Doha at A$1,255 (~€705)VA 2
Doha to Sydney at QAR 5,260 (~€1,233)VA 15
Brisbane to Doha at A$1,237 (~€695)VA 16
Doha to Brisbane at QAR 5,320 (~€1,247)VA 21
Perth to Doha at A$1,192 (~€670)VA 22
Doha to Perth at QAR 5,290 (~€1,240)
You can also get the bonus points when booking them as part of a roundtrip or longer journey.
Bottom Line
While the 10,000 (or 20,000) Avios are a nice bonus when you are looking for these flights regardless, they are certainly no incentive to buy these overpriced tickets.
