Rwandair flies non-stop from London and Paris to Kigali. If you start your journey in Brussels, you will take a short feeder first. The intercontinental flights from Europe to Rwanda are operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The economy cabin features a 2-4-2 seating pattern with a generous 81 cm seat pitch. While the reviews of the inflight service tend to be favourable, the airlines’ ground staff has built up a bad reputation. A Boeing 737-800 takes you from Kigali to your final destination.
A traditional visa is no longer required to enter Kenya for most EU citizens. However, you must apply for an eTA (electronic travel authorization) online in advance. This is possible up to 3 months before departure and costs US$34 (~€29).
Most Europeans do not need a visa to enter South Africa, as long as their stay does not exceed 90 days. You merely need a passport with 2 empty pages, and a ticket to leave South Africa.
A visa is required to enter Uganda. For most EU citizens, you must apply for an e-Visa online in advance of your trip. The application costs around US$50 (~€43).
Most European citizens can obtain a tourist visa on arrival for stays of up to 30 days for Rwanda, which costs approximately US$50 (~€43). Alternatively, you can apply for an e-Visa online before departure.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
