The two SkyTeam Airlines Air France and KLM are selling cheap tickets for flights to Tokyo, Japan to all passengers that are willing and able to fly out of Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. Prices for a roundtrip from the capital of Hungary to Tokyo start at HUF 164,900 (~€422)€. Sadly, adding luggage will bump the price up to HUF 190,500 (~€487).
Availability is high in late 2020 and early 2021. We recommend booking for early 2021, as the Corona crisis really should be over by then.
Depending on the flight dates and the airline you chose to travel with, you’ll have to change planes either in Amsterdam or in Paris before KLM or Air France will fly you to the Japanese capital. Both airlines will most likely operate a Boeing 777 on the route to Asia.

According to the fare rules, the offer will be available until April 14, 2020 for trips departing from August 21st until December 14th, or after December 29th.
There are many possible dates within the first-mentioned period, but we really recommend booking these flights for 2021, as the risk of the Corona crisis still being an issue then is extremely low.
You have to stay at least until the first Sunday after you arrived or leave Tokyo no earlier than 6 days after the departure from Budapest. The maximum length of stay is 3 months.
To find available flights, we suggest using Google Flights (instruction). Once you settle for an ideal date, you can buy your ticket on Air France’s or KLM’s website.
Mileage
While the tickets for the connection flights from and to Budapest will be distributed in booking class L, the long-haul fares are issued in booking class V. That means that the roundtrip via Amsterdam should get you:

Information & Tips for Tokyo
Tokyo is known for its blend of traditional and modern attractions, including the historic Senso-ji Temple, the bustling Shibuya Crossing, and the futuristic Odaiba district. The currency used is the Japanese yen (JPY), and credit cards are widely accepted in many places. Tokyo can be expensive, especially for accommodation and dining in tourist areas, but budget options are available. The weather varies: summers are hot and humid, while winters are cold but generally dry. The best times to visit are in spring (for cherry blossoms) and autumn (for mild temperatures).
We’ve compared various esim providers, such as YohoMobile and Nomad. To see which plan is best for your travel needs and which network offers the best coverage, feel free to read our detailed guide:
