Flights are operated either nonstop on certain days using a KLM Boeing 787 (Review), or via Paris on an Air France Boeing 777. Flight time is approximately 13 to 14 hours each way.

By now, modern seats have become the norm at KLM. Its business class is definitely not a bad choice, also thanks to the good service. Like many other airlines, the Boeing 787 always has the newest business class seats installed.

Let’s start with the negatives: Air France’s service is usually below average (especially between meals). On a positive note, almost all of their planes are equipped with a modern 1-2-1 business class by now.

If July and August are too short-term for you, you may want to consider this other business class deal from Cairo to Japan, which has year-round availability and is roughly €500 cheaper:

Information & Tips for Osaka

Osaka, Japan’s third-largest city, is known for attractions like Osaka Castle, the lively Dotonbori district, and the Universal Studios Japan theme park. The local currency is the Japanese yen (JPY), and most places accept cash, though credit cards are becoming more common. Prices are moderate compared to Tokyo—meals and transit are reasonably affordable. The weather is humid subtropical, with hot, rainy summers and cool, mild winters, so packing appropriately for the season is important.

Information & Tips for Japan

Japan offers a blend of modern cities and natural beauty, with highlights including Tokyo’s bustling urban landscape, Kyoto’s historic temples, Mount Fuji, and the hot springs of Hakone. The currency is the Japanese yen (JPY), and credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, though cash is still common in rural regions. Japan can be pricey, especially in cities, with high costs for accommodation and dining, but budget options are available. The weather varies by region: summers are hot and humid, while winters can be cold, particularly in the north. The best time to visit is typically during spring (for cherry blossoms) or autumn (for fall foliage).

Japan’s transport infrastructure is highly efficient and easy to navigate. In cities like Tokyo and Osaka, the metro and train systems are extensive, punctual, and relatively easy to use, though they can get crowded during peak hours. Buses and taxis are also available, but less convenient for tourists. For intercity travel, Japan’s Shinkansen (bullet trains) are fast, comfortable, and reliable, though more expensive than other options. Buses and domestic flights are also available for longer distances, but trains remain the preferred choice for many travellers due to speed and convenience.
