Alaska: €1,156 SkyTeam Business Class From Spain

Anchorage, USA

SkyTeam airlines KLM, Air France, and Delta have put a great price tag on business class flights to Alaska – you can to Anchorage, Alaska starting at €1,166 with departure from Madrid.

Info

Tourists can currently not enter the USA. There are no specific details when the ban is going to be lifted.

Air France, KLM, and Delta, however, offer goodwill policies. The European airlines let you cancel all flights before March 31, 2022, for a voucher. They even allow you to redeem these vouchers in your original method of payment and get your money back this way. So booking with them might be favorable, but also around €200 more expensive.

Delta is much more restrictive, just offering you a date change if you are willing to pay the fare difference.

You may find this deal with departure from:

In addition to Anchorage, you might find tickets for the same price to Fairbanks, Alaska, too.

The flights usually take place with two layovers – one in Amsterdam and the other in Seattle. There are, however, other options, such as flying via Amsterdam and Salt Like City.

The flights within Europe are operated by KLM and/or Air France, while the long-haul flights are usually operated by Delta with an Airbus A330. The flights to Alaska are then operated by one of Delta’s Boeing 737 or 757 aircraft. Stopovers are sadly not permitted.

If you’re travelling to North America, Delta is surely not a bad choice, especially if the route is operated with an Airbus plane. The seats in the Boeing 767 are good, but already quite old. The seats in the A330 and especially the A350, however, are on an extremely high level. All A330neo and A350 planes already have the Suite seats installed, which offer maximum privacy.

Search & Book

The fare rules do not state until when this deal will remain available. You can fly from November 2021 until June 2022. Not the best travel period for Alaska, but at least you could get to see some polar lights.

You can find available dates easily by using Google Flights. Sadly, the prices displayed are not always correct, and the real price often tends to be €100 more expensive. Booking directly on KLM’s website is rarely possible, and in those cases, the prices start at €1,400. We, therefore, recommend booking through Delta, which is a rather complicated journey.

Booking via Delta

To book directly with Delta, you need to install the ITA Matrix power tools for Chrome or Firefox. Then you proceed to the aforementioned Matrix (here’s our tutorial) and search for your connection of choice, preferably with these filters:

Thanks to the ITA Matrix Powertools, you will find a nique little button at the end of your search saying Use Delta:

It will forward you to Delta’s website, where you can find the advertised prices:

Information & Tips for USA

The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.

The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
