Star Alliance member TAP Air Portugal is currently offering discounted tickets to the Cape Verde Islands. Flights as low as €223 from Porto to Sal are available, with a layover in Lisbon both ways. You would have to pay €288 on TAP’s website to fly with a checked bag weighing 23 kg on both legs, which is also a reasonable price.
You can find roundtrips to Sal from the following cities for less than €300:
If you want to travel to Praia, you can from the following cities for less than €300:
Our calendar displays all available dates for trips of up to 28 days. We have filtered out flights with overly long Lisbon layovers. You can find the best prices on Skyscanner, which will find the cheapest OTA for you. Should you wish to fly with luggage, however, we recommend that you book on TAP’s website.

If you are not flying from Lisbon, you will take first a feeder flight to the Portuguese capital, where you would then fly another 4 hours to reach Cape Verde. Both flights are usually operated with Airbus A320 family aircraft. Please note that TAP’s economy class is said to be below average, with a minimal seat pitch.
Most European passport holders can stay up to 30 days visa-free in Cape Verde, but you must register on this official website at least five days before your visit.
Search & Book
This deal is set to expire on November 3, 2024 for travel between November 2024 and March 2025. There is a five days minimum stay requirement. Unfortunately, TAP set a blackout date for the winter holiday period, otherwise the availability looks good.
Our calendar above displays available dates for trips of 2-28 days. For longer trips, you can use Google Flights to find all available flight dates.
After retrieving dates, you can search for the lowest fare on Skyscanner. If, however, you intend to take a piece of luggage on your trip, then you’re better off booking directly on TAP’s website. Booking on TAP’s website comes with the added benefit of being able to add a Lisbon stopover without increasing the flight price.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

160 points? I think it should be 80 as this is economy class 2*(20+20)=80
Hi Michal! 160 Points is correct – the Cape Verde Islands are Miles&More Region Africa, making Lisbon to Sal or Praia an intercontinental flight. I’ts 2*(20+60) = 160 Points.
