Star Alliance carrier TAP Portugal is offering extremely cheap fares from Madrid to New York starting at €184. Flight times are short. As expected, these fares do not include checked luggage, a seat reservation, and are non-flexible. Please keep in mind that this discount fare is exempt from TAP Portugal’s rebooking policy. There’s almost daily availability from April 2021 onwards. You can also fly from Paris and Amsterdam for slightly higher (but still very low) prices.
From Madrid or Paris, you would fly to Porto, from where you’d continue to New York, crossing the Atlantic with an Airbus A321neo. If you’re flying from Amsterdam, you’ll have your layover in Lisbon, from where you’ll fly to New York on an Airbus A330neo. Regardless of your routing, you will be served a meal on the transatlantic flights.
By the way, this isn’t our only economy class deal to New York:

Search & Book
The fare rules do not state any restrictions. Free stopovers in Porto are permitted. You can find your preferred travel dates with Google Flights (instructions). You should then book directly with TAP. Selecting the Basic-fare that includes luggage and flexibility costs €100 more.
We strongly recommend that you book these flights for as late as possible as to reduce the risk of a cancellation or the USA still not letting tourists enter the country by then.
Mileage
Tickets are issued in booking class O. Most frequent flyer programs will not credit these flights or will only credit them at 10%. Miles&More however is the huge exception as they will issue a 25% miles credit after you have flown.

Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
