The inbound flight from Zanzibar to Istanbul is operated with a stop in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Both flights to and from Zanzibar are single-aisle Boeing 737 services instead of typical long-haul planes. For Addis Ababa, the flight is non-stop from Turkey, also on a single-aisle plane.

Visa Info

Most European citizens need a visa to enter Tanzania. As the process can take up to ten work days after applying, you should visit the Tanzanian visa portal in time.

Most European passport holders can stay in Ethiopia for up to 30 days by paying US$62 (~€53) with a visa on arrival or applying for an e-visa.

Search & Book

This deal doesn’t have an expiration date, nor a minimum or maximum stay. Departures are available from October 2025 to March 2026.

You can find suitable dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights. We recommend booking directly on Turkish Airlines’ website, but you can find cheaper prices with Skyscanner. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Miles & Points

This ticket is issued in booking class U. A ticket will give you no miles in any frequent flyer program except Turkish Airlines’ own Miles&Smiles, where you’ll get around 1,650 miles, depending on the destination.

Information & Tips for Zanzibar

Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania, is known for its historic Stone Town, spice farms, and white-sand beaches like those in Nungwi and Kendwa. The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling, though US dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas. Prices range from budget to mid-range, with meals and accommodations generally more affordable than in Western countries. The weather is tropical, with hot, humid conditions year-round; the driest months—and most popular for travel—are June to October.

Getting around Zanzibar can be a bit inconsistent. Within Stone Town, most places are walkable, but the narrow, winding streets can be confusing. For longer distances, dala-dalas (shared minibuses) are cheap but often crowded and unreliable. Taxis and private drivers are more comfortable but relatively expensive. Roads outside the main areas can be rough, and signage is limited, so renting a car is only recommended if you’re confident navigating on your own.

Information & Tips for Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, sits at 2,355 meters, which keeps the weather generally mild year-round, with warm days and cool nights. Visitors often stop at the National Museum (home to the fossil “Lucy”), the Ethnological Museum, and the sprawling Merkato market, one of Africa’s largest. The local currency is the Ethiopian birr (ETB), and cash is still more widely used than cards. Prices for food, taxis, and entrance fees are relatively low compared to Europe or North America, though quality can vary. Rain is most common from June to September, so the drier months are easier for sightseeing.
