Namibia is one of the most popular countries to visit in Africa, partly thanks to its desert landscapes and wildlife.
The country is twice the size of Germany, but its population is only about 2,5 million people. You are therefore “on your own” quite often; do not attempt to traverse the deserts in anything but a proper off-road SUV as the roads are little more than dirt roads and pothole riddled paths.
The Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to travel through Namibia is the dry season from May to December. If you visit during the rainy season, be prepared to deal with short yet intense sporadic rainfalls.
Immigration & Visa Requirements
Most EU citizens do not need a visa to enter Namibia for up to 90 days a year, provided their travel is purely for touristic purposes. Contact your state department or ministry of foreign affairs for the full regulations for your nationality.
