New Business Class: Qatar Airways Unveils Next Generation Qsuite

Qatar QSuite Next Gen

As previously announced, Qatar Airways presented the next generation of its Qsuite business class at the Farnborough Airshow today. At first glance, it looks very similar to the current product but comes with a few improvements.

For instance, in the four-person suite, the screens can now be folded away, creating a much more open space. And for those travelling in pairs, there is now an option to sit across from each other by the window instead of side by side.

The new Qsuite is expected to be introduced at the end of 2025 (further delays possible) on board the new Boeing 777X. According to SamChui, newly delivered Airbus A350s will also receive the new Qsuite, although this has not yet been confirmed by the airline.

Insights into the new Qsuite

As mentioned at the beginning, there are mainly two major changes. Both are based on the fact that the screens can now be folded to the side. This significantly changes the sense of space in the four-person suite. Previously, only the partitions could be lowered, but now it offers a much more open room:

With the same technology, you can now sit across from each other by the window in the Qsuite Next Gen. Previously, pairs of travellers had seats in the middle of the cabin (with a double bed), but now there is a second option.

Additionally, there are a few upgrades for all seats:

  • The design has been revised and now includes tables with a black marble look.
  • There is a lockable compartment for valuables, which can only be opened with a code.
  • The bed is supposed to be wider and longer than before (presumably compared to the Boeing 777).
  • There is now a wireless charging pad for smartphones.
  • There is a personal touchscreen for controlling seat functions.

Unfortunately, the photos in the press release show only a few of the new features. A better insight is provided by the following video:

Conclusion

We do not want to praise the new Qsuite too early. Things like seat comfort can only be judged once you have actually sat in it. But from what we have seen so far, it looks like a substantial upgrade, especially for those travelling in pairs or groups of four.
