Air France and KLM are selling discounted tickets for business class on their flights from various Polish airports to Dubai. The two SkyTeam carriers are offering seats at prices starting around PLN 5,693 (~€1,334). The cheapest option is the departure from Gdańsk, but if another airport is closer to where you live, the surcharge should be less than PLN 10 (~€2).
We expect further shakeups in the airline industry over the following months. Some services might be cancelled, aircraft changed or downgraded. The schedule we describe may very well change.
You can choose to depart from the following airports:
- Gdańsk at PLN 5,693 (~€1,334)
- Warsaw at PLN 5,703 (~€1,337)
- Kraków at PLN 5,693 (~€1,334)
The availability of this deal is good from July until September, with a few available dates in October and December. We recommend that you book for as late in the year as possible.
Flights with KLM will include a layover in Amsterdam, those with Air France in Paris. Of course, you’ll be able to spend your time in the lounge before boarding the wide-body jet for your flight to Dubai. By the way: lie-flat seats are definitely included on the long-haul segments.
Search & Book
The fare rules state that this price will continue to be available until April 14, 2020, so you’ll have to be quick. The only restriction other mentioned is a minimum stay requirement of 7 days.
Google Flights (instructions) will display all connections and prices correctly. Just choose your preferred date and then book directly on KLM’s website.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Mileage
The short European flights are issued in class J, while the long-haul flights to Dubai are issued in class O. Here’s what should be credited with for a trip from Gdansk via Amsterdam:
Mileage calculation is currently unavailable.
Flying Blue should credit you almost 5,000 miles. We don’t recommend crediting the miles anywhere other than Flying Blue or Delta SkyMiles.
Information & Tips for Dubai
Dubai is known for its modern architecture, luxury shopping, and major attractions like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and desert tours. The currency is the United Arab Emirates dirham (AED), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices can be high, especially for accommodation and attractions, though budget options exist. The weather is hot for most of the year, with extreme heat from June to September, while the cooler months from November to March are more suitable for travel.
We’ve compared various esim providers, such as Airalo and Airhub. To see which plan is best for your travel needs and which network offers the best coverage, feel free to read our detailed guide:
