Sixt Status Match to Gold & Platinum: Possible from Many Airline and Hotel Programs (Status Never Expires!)

The rental car company Sixt has been gifting its Gold and Platinum status to pretty much everyone who has a status at a frequent flyer, hotel, or rental car program. The special thing: that status is then valid forever! Upgrades, though, are only guaranteed during the first 12 months, afterwards, you need to reach a certain number of rentals per year. The discount for Gold or Platinum-holders, however, remains!

Which Programs are Eligible for a Match

The list of Sixt partners is very long. Virtually all frequent flyer programs cooperate with Sixt. Some are just for collecting miles, but many others also offer a status match.

Frequent Flyer Programs

These are the eligible programs which are probably most common:

Furthermore, a match is also offered to members of the following programs:

Hotel Programs

There aren’t quite as many eligible programs, the most attractive being Marriott Bonvoy.

  • Marriott Bonvoy
    • Silver/Gold Elite → Sixt Gold
    • Platinum/Titanium Elite → Sixt Platinum

Other than that, you can also get a status match from the following programs:

Rental Car Programs

Matches from other rental car programs are not listed on the partner overview, but under a separate status match website. The following status tiers will be matched to SIXT Gold:

  • Hertz Gold
  • Europcar Privilege Club
  • Avis Preferred
  • Enterprise Plus

For SIXT Platinum, you’ll need

  • Hertz Five Star & President
  • Europcar Privilege Executive
  • Europcar Privilege Elite
  • Europcar Privilege Elite VIP
  • Avis President’s Club
  • You can try with an equivalent status

How to Match Your Status

You should apply directly through the link for the program for which you currently hold a status. We’ve linked them all above, but just in case, here’s the landing page for all partner programs:

Sixt Partners

Once you’re on the specific webpage that’s dedicated to that partner, e.g. for Miles&More, you can then click on the following button (after scrolling down a bit):

If you click this button, you’ll first need to log in with an existing Sixt account or create a new one. You can then optionally add a payment method or continue without one. That’s it.

After that, you can view your newly created booking profile at any time. If you have multiple profiles, you can easily switch between them. The discount and other benefits will then be applied automatically.

Benefits

When you register at Sixt, you get the Sixt Express Card. That saves you some time when picking up your car, and also allows you to earn miles or points at many frequent flyer or hotel programs. Also, should your car break down, you’ll get a new rental car within 4 hours.

After 5 rentals within 12 consecutive months, you would get the Gold card:

Sixt Gold Card

The Sixt Gold Card comes with the following benefits:

  • Up to 10% discount at Sixt rent a car and Sixt rent a truck
  • Preferred Mobility: Guaranteed car up to 48 hours before arrival, though not really guaranteed

After 20 rentals within 12 consecutive months, you’ll get the Platinum card:

Sixt Platinum Card

  • Automatic Upgrade to the next vehicle category based on availability.
    Does not apply to long-term rentals, special cars, motorbikes, and trucks. Only within the first 12 months. Beyond the 12 months, you’ll only get upgrades if you have at least 20 rentals within the last 12 months.
  • Up to 15% discount at Sixt rent a car and Sixt rent a truck
  • Preferred Mobility: Guaranteed car up to 24 hours before arrival, though not really guaranteed

The Discount

The biggest benefit of having the Gold or even Platinum card is the discount. You get up to a 10% discount as a Gold member and up to 15% with the Platinum card. The exact percentage depends on the following factors:

  • City
  • Vehicle category
  • Paying at the rental station or directly online

There are also further discounts on some extras, e.g. insurance.

To receive the discount, you need to log in to Sixt first. You’ll then directly see the prices with the discount. If you want to compare your price with the normal price, you need to search for your rental while NOT being logged in.

While Sixt promises up to 15%, sadly, 5% is rather usual, unless you’re renting an expensive luxurious car.

Conclusion

This is a very generous offer. It is especially interesting that the status doesn’t have an expiration date, and the discount is really nice. The Platinum status, however, is much more attractive than the Gold status.

    Hola!
    I have diamond status from Sixt.
    As useless as it can be. IMO you shouldn’t bother.
    Upgrades at the discretion of the employee.
    No real benefits except skipping the line.
    I guess gold and platinum are even less useful.
    My 2 cents.

    There seems no checking.

      They don’t check for the status match. In theory, they could check it at the counter once renting a car, though

    weisst Du, ob es noch zutrifft, dass Sixt den Senator Status bei Lufthansa matched mit einem Sixt Platinum Status?
    Falls ja, weisst du wie es geht ?
