Info

Kenya still has some Covid-19 travel restrictions in place. As of October 11, 2022, you need a negative PCR test or proof of vaccination to enter the country.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to KLM with your preselected flight dates. Some dates with a Zanzibar stopover may not show up in the availability calendar, but you can find them on KLM’s website by clicking the button above.

If you’d like even more space on your way from Budapest to East Africa and back, check out Lufthansa’s business class offer.

The longer flights are operated by Air France’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which have 21 premium economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. The seats recline quite well and they have a shell, so it doesn’t bother the person sitting behind you. Some flights have a quick stopover on the outbound journey in Zanzibar.

On the short flight, you will be in economy class. You can fly either the Airbus A320 family with a 3-3 configuration or the brand new Bombardier Airbus A220 with a 2-3 configuration.

Search & Book

The fare will expire on January 15, 2023 and you can travel until March 2023. There is good availability, especially in March 2023. You need to stay at least six nights or spend a Saturday night in Nairobi. However, a 3 months maximum stay also applies.

You have two good ways of searching for flights: our availability calendar only shows flights with no overnight layover, but does not show a few dates which have a Zanzibar layover. It will direct you to KLM’s website where you can book your flight safely. Alternatively, you can also use KLM’s best price calendar, but it may show you dates with overnight transfers. Google Flights does not show all dates. OTAs will not be cheaper than the airline.

Information & Tips for Kenya

Kenya offers diverse attractions, including iconic safaris in Maasai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo National Parks, as well as the coastal beaches of Mombasa and historical sites in Nairobi. The currency is the Kenyan shilling (KES), and while credit cards are accepted in tourist areas, cash is commonly used in local markets. Prices can vary, with safaris and upscale accommodations being expensive, but budget-friendly options are available for food and transport. The weather is generally warm and sunny, with a rainy season from March to May, making the best time to visit typically from June to October.

Kenya’s transport infrastructure is a mix of modern and traditional systems. In cities like Nairobi, public transport is mainly through matatus (minibuses) or ride-hailing apps, though traffic congestion can be a challenge. The city’s train network is expanding, offering another option. For intercity travel, long-distance buses and flights are common, with buses being more affordable but slower. Domestic flights are fast and convenient, especially for accessing remote areas like the coast or safari destinations. However, road conditions can vary, and travel outside urban centres may require more time or planning.
