Boston: £1,116/ €1,301 TAP Business Class Flights from London w/ Lisbon Stopover

tap business a321

Star Alliance member TAP Air Portugal is selling business class flights from London to Boston starting at £1,116 (~€1,278) from October to March 2025 with blackout dates on December. TAP’s business class gives you good mileage and two checked bags of 32 kilos.

The catch is that you have to stay at least 24 hours in Lisbon on your outbound to get the lowest fare. Any stop that does not exceed 24 hours raises the ticket price by roughly £200 (~€229) due to the UK air passenger duty. Your stopover in Portugal may last up to five days. For the inbound journey, you can choose the shortest available connection. It is necessary to purchase tickets for a multi-stop journey (LONLISBOSLON) to get the lowest fare.

Flights without Stopover

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days with no overnight stays in Lisbon. It will forward you to TAP or Kayak. From there you check what OTAs have to offer, as they sell these tickets up to £40 (~€46) cheaper:

For the multi-city option, you can find the dates in the Find Availabilities box below. You can use those return dates as the first and last legs’ dates and set the day after departure as the date for the Lisbon-Boston flight. This flight search form will lead you to Kayak’s or TAP’s website.

TAP uses Airbus A321LRs for the long-haul flights. Those offer an alternating 1-1 (throne seats) & 2-2 lie-flat configuration in business class. You can find our review of the product here.

Not too long ago, TAP’s Executive Class was infamously subpar. By now, however, all planes have been equipped with new seats that can be converted into fully flat beds and offer quite a high comfort. Especially the Throne seat on the long-range A321 is top-notch, being twice as big as other seats.

According to the fare rules, this fare will expire on May 21, 2024. There is a minimum stay of 5 nights or a Saturday night overnight stay and a maximum stay of 1 month. Departures are available between from October to March 2025 with blackout dates on December.

Above, you can find an availability calendar. Since the cheapest fares are only available in the form of multi-stop tickets, you can’t book them directly through our availability calendar. However, you can use the outbound and inbound flight dates displayed above (or on Google Flights) as the first and last legs of your journey. We recommend you book directly from TAP AIR’s website, but you can find cheaper prices with Kayak. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Hotel prices in US cities, such as Boston, usually start at roughly £80 (~€92), depending on the hotel category. Whichever category and hotel you opt for, make sure to get the best price! Our recommendation is to search on booking.com, or even on our own Travel-Dealz hotel search:

Information & Tips for USA

The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.

The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
