Star Alliance member LOT Polish Airlines brings us today a deal from Oslo to Chicago starting at just €1,194 (~NOK 13,975). This deal includes 3x 32kg checked luggage and all the business class perks. Departures are available between October to February 2025.
You can change the ticket dates for €300 plus the fare difference. These tickets are non-refundable.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to LOT or Skyscanner with your selected flight dates. From Skyscanner you can check what OTAs have to offer, as they sell these tickets up to €50 cheaper:

Flights from Oslo to Warsaw are operated by Embraer jets or Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. From there, you’ll continue to Chicago on a LOT Boeing 787 with a 2-2-2 configuration.
The Polish airline LOT only has one long-haul aircraft type, the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) – thus every flight will have the exact same seats. Everything is slightly above average, except the seat alignment (2-2-2), which doesn’t offer direct access to the aisle for the window seats. A further disadvantage of flying with LOT: There’s no Wi-Fi, even if you’d be willing to pay for it. So, if you intend to work (with internet access) during the flight, you should choose a different airline. LOT is, however, very generous with its baggage allowance (3 x 32 kg).
Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$21 (~€19) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
Search & Book
This deal has no expiration date, but it requires a minimum stay of six days or an overnight stay on a Saturday, and a maximum stay of twelve months. Departures are available from October 2024 to February 2025.
You can find suitable dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights or Matrix (Instructions). We recommend booking directly on LOT’s website, but you can find cheaper prices with Skyscanner. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Book with LOT
You can book directly on the LOT’s website. There, you also have access to the flexible search option of +/- 6 days, making it easy to find alternative dates.

Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.

Chicago is known for its architecture, museums, and lakefront, with highlights like Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Willis Tower. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and credit cards are widely accepted. Prices can be high, especially for accommodation and dining in central areas, though there are budget options. The weather is variable—summers are warm and humid, winters are cold with snow, and spring and fall are unpredictable, so packing layers is advised.
