Future SkyTeam member Scandinavian Airlines currently has another one of its sales going, discounting lots of premium economy and business class tickets. One of the possible destinations is Chinese megacity Shanghai, with ticket prices going as low as €1,441 (~NOK 16,782) for departures from Norway. You can also pay roughly €190 more to fly on to Taipei in China Airlines’ business class.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days from Oslo. Flights to Shanghai are available directly on SAS’ website. The flights to Taipei, on the other hand, are not. If you’re flying to Taipei, you need to book on Expedia’s website.

By the way, the tickets are not only available from Oslo, but also from other Norwegian airports, such as Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, Tromso, Bodo, or Kristiansand.
All flights have at least one stop in Copenhagen. The flights between Norway and Denmark see you seated in SAS Plus, which means better service, but no extra space. From Copenhagen, an SAS Airbus A350-900 takes you to China. These planes feature lie-flat-seats in a 1-2-1 pattern up front. You can find a review of the product here.
If you’re heading to Taiwan, the flight between Shanghai and Taipei will be operated by China Airlines, using a Boeing 777 with lie-flat seats for the flight that takes less than 2 hours.
In its wide-body fleet, Scandinavian airline SAS has very big and comfortable seats, each offering direct access to the aisle. There’s a lot of storage room and also a very big desk which is perfect to work. The seats alternate between either being directly next to the window or directly at the aisle. There’s a different business class in their long-haul A321, however, which is less spacious. An upside of flying SAS: Free unlimited Wi-Fi! So it’s not a bad choice for hard-working businessmen.

By the way, if you prefer flying Star Alliance, you can check out Lufthansa‘s business class offer from Oslo to China for €1,323 (~NOK 15,408).

According to the fare rules, these tickets are on sale until August 26, 2024 for departures between November 1 and April 30. A minimum stay of six days or one night from Saturday to Sunday is necessary to get the lowest fare. Furthermore, these tickets are non-refundable.
Google Flights helps you find all available flight dates. If you’re flying to Shanghai, we recommend purchasing the tickets directly from the airline. If you’re flying to Taipei, Expedia is the best option.
Miles & Points
SAS issues tickets for all flight segments in booking class J. A roundtrip from Oslo to Beijing would get you 20,000 points at Eurobonus.
SAS leaves Star Alliance on August 31, 2024, and joins SkyTeam the day after. Currently, we have no information where and how you can earn points with these flights, except for SAS’ own EuroBonus program.
If you’re flying on to Taipei, the China Airlines flights are issued in booking class D, meaning that the short flight would get you an additional:

Information & Tips for China
China offers a wide range of sights, from historical landmarks like the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army, and the Forbidden City to modern cities like Shanghai and scenic areas such as Zhangjiajie and Guilin. The currency is the Chinese yuan (CNY), and mobile payments via apps like Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used, though cash is still accepted. Prices vary—major cities can be moderate to expensive, while rural areas are generally more affordable. Weather conditions differ greatly by region, with cold winters in the north, hot, humid summers in the south, and a generally best travel period in spring or autumn.
China has a highly developed transport system, especially in urban and coastal areas. Most major cities have extensive metro networks that are cheap, efficient, and easy to navigate with English signage. For travel between cities, the high-speed rail network is one of the most advanced in the world, connecting even distant regions quickly and reliably. In rural or less-developed areas, transport options can be more limited and slower, but basic bus or train connections are usually available.

The local currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD), and prices are generally reasonable—street food and public transport are cheap, while hotels range from budget to upscale. The weather is hot and humid in summer, with typhoon season peaking from July to September, while winters are mild, especially in the north.
