Miles&More is introducing an infant flight award fee amounting to 10% of the regular mileage price effective immediately. Previously, infants under the age of 2 travelling on an adult’s lap only incurred surcharges and fees but required no miles.
Although this change is relatively minor compared to other adjustments made this year, Miles&More once again failed to adhere to their self-imposed three-month advance notice policy. This change was discovered by Frankfurtflyer.de, which spotted the update in the Miles&More terms and conditions.
Over the past year, Miles&More has made headlines primarily with negative changes, including the introduction of a new status program with shorter status durations, significant and unannounced increases in fuel surcharges for flights to and from North America, and the gradual reduction of “Mileage Bargains” in long-haul business class.
The updated Miles&More terms now state:
“If they do not occupy a seat, infants (up to the age of two years) travel for 10% of the miles compared to a regular award flight for adults. Applicable taxes, fees, and airline surcharges, as well as any service charges, must be paid by you.”

This policy still creates a clear distinction from the standard child award rates for children aged 2 to 11 years, which offer a 25% discount compared to the regular award ticket price, but only on flights operated by the Lufthansa Group and fully integrated Miles&More airlines. In contrast, infant mileage tickets can be booked with any Miles&More partner airline, providing some flexibility.
