tui mein schiff 6

The Mein Schiff 6 from TUI Cruises is currently operating cruises in Asia, but will return to the Mediterranean for the summer months. You can currently book the partial route from Singapore to Cape Town at particularly low prices. For this 19-night journey, you will pay only €799 per person for an inside cabin. Outside cabins start from €1,099, and balcony cabins start at €1,299 (each price is per person based on double occupancy). Solo travellers can book an inside cabin from €1,438.

Warning

The Mein Schiff cruises are all aimed at German tourists, and thus everything onboard will be in German. Of course, you will find people who speak English, but overall, expect most things to be in German.

While we usually do not post German-speaking cruises on our site, this one is so very attractive due to its all-inclusive offering, and interesting route, that we decided to post it anyway.

The prices mentioned not only include full board and gratuities, but also a comprehensive selection of over 100 branded drinks and speciality coffees, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. This concept sets TUI Cruises apart from many other cruise lines.

Route

Your cruise starts on May 7 in Singapore, where the ship initially serves as your hotel for one night. The first destination is then Kelang in Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur. This is followed by seven days at sea before you reach Mauritius. Another highlight is certainly La Réunion the next day. After four more days at sea, you will arrive in Port Elizabeth. Towards the end, you can also use the ship as a “hotel” in Cape Town for one night. The cruise finally ends on May 26th.

Ship

The Mein Schiff 6 was completed in 2017 at the Meyer Turku shipyard. This Blue-Motion-Class cruise ship accommodates up to 2,534 guests and 1,000 crew members. Onboard, you’ll find 11 restaurants and bistros (e.g., a seafood restaurant and pizzeria) and 16 bars and lounges. Thanks to the Premium-All-Inclusive concept, dining is available 24/7. Speciality restaurants in the “Große Freiheit” area (e.g., a steakhouse) are excluded and come with an additional charge. Over 100 branded beverages and cocktails are included in the drinks package.

An extensive entertainment program and childcare are also part of the offering, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. Among the amenities are a 25-meter swimming pool, a spa (approx. 1,700 square meters), a fitness centre, a sports court, an outdoor jogging track, a golf simulator, a theatre, a lounge, a nightclub, a casino, an open-air cinema. The onboard language is German, and the currency used is the euro.

The cabins are at least 17 square meters in size and are equipped with an espresso machine, air conditioning, safe, TV, and telephone.

Flights

The cruise begins in Singapore and ends in Cape Town. You have to organize transport around the cruise yourself – for example you can opt for separate bookings. For example, KLM offers fares around €700 (with checked luggage included in the case of these dates from Rome) on multi-city tickets from a handful of European cities. We found an example from Rome to Singapore on May 6, returning on the evening of May 26 from Cape Town.
