The airline SAS and the hotel chain Scandic both have a strong presence in the Scandinavian region. Last year, the two companies entered into a partnership aimed at offering additional benefits to loyal customers. Together, they form a counterbalance to Norwegian Air and Strawberry Hotels, which even have a joint loyalty program called Spenn.
Now the partnership between Scandinavian Airlines and Scandic is also bearing fruits: both companies actively offer a status match. This means that anyone with a frequent flyer status with SAS EuroBonus can enjoy various benefits during future stays at Scandic hotels. Likewise, those who have earned a status with Scandic can match it to SAS EuroBonus free of charge.
Status Match SAS EuroBonus ↔ Scandic Friends
The alignment of status levels between SAS and Scandic is as follows:
- EuroBonus Silver = Scandic Dear Friend
- EuroBonus Gold = Scandic Loyal Friend
- EuroBonus Diamond = Scandic True Friend
The Scandic status will be valid for as long as the corresponding EuroBonus status (and vice versa). Even those who obtained their SAS status through a status match are eligible to participate.
Status Benefits
Below, we’ll focus on the benefits of Scandic status, as we expect more of our readers to hold SAS status than Scandic status. For those interested in the reverse direction, you can read more on the SAS website.
- Dear Friend (Level 4):
- Late check-out by 1 hour (if available)
- Early check-in (if available)
- Restaurant voucher worth €7.50 / 75 SEK or 500 Scandic points
- 25% bonus points
- Loyal Friend (Level 5):
- All the benefits of Level 4
- Free upgrade by one category (if available)
- 2-for-1 hotel breakfast offer (even if not staying at the hotel)
- Restaurant voucher increased to €10 / 100 SEK or 650 Scandic points
- True Friend (Level 6):
- All the benefits of Level 5
- Free breakfast at Scandic hotels, even for non-guests (may vary by hotel)
- Restaurant voucher increased to €15 / 150 SEK or 1,000 Scandic points
How It Works
The status match is currently only available on the new (beta) version of the SAS website:
If the link above results in a “404 Error,” follow these steps:
- Go to beta.flysas.com
- If already logged in, log out manually
- Click “Log in” in the top right and enter your login details
- Then click on “Profile” in the same menu, or go to beta.flysas.com/en/profile/scandic
To the right of “SAS for Work,” a new tab labelled SAS x Scandic should appear.

There, a button will allow you to link both accounts. You’ll be asked to log into your Scandic account once. After that, the status match should process within a few seconds.

In my case, it took less than a minute, and the status in my Scandic account was updated to Level 5 (Loyal Friend).

Point Transfers Coming in the Future
It was originally announced that, starting in June 2025, it will also be possible to transfer points between the two loyalty programs. Transfers will be available in both directions, with the following conversion rate:
- 1 EuroBonus point = 2 Scandic Friends points
However, this feature has not been implemented yet (August 2025).
In theory, reward nights at Scandic are available from 10,000 points (= 5,000 EuroBonus points) per night. However, at that price, the selection is very limited (only 3 hotels, one of which does not include breakfast). As shown on the Scandic website, most hotels cost between 15,000 and 40,000 points per night.
