For an 11-night cruise in an inside cabin, you’ll pay just €664 per person. Oceanview cabins are also very affordable, starting at €709, and balcony cabins at €852 (each per person, based on double occupancy). There is also good news for solo travelers, as an outside cabin costs only €791 (inside for €759). The single supplement is therefore a moderate 15%.

The price includes all meals in the main restaurants and the Indulgence Food Hall, as well as coffee and tea during meals. Gratuities and alcoholic drinks are not included. The all-inclusive package costs roughly €34 extra per day.

Route

Your cruise starts in Southampton. This southern English port city is a frequent starting point for transatlantic cruises from various cruise lines. In the SeaCity Museum, you can learn more about the city’s maritime history. For shopping enthusiasts, a visit to the Westquay Shopping Centre should be on the agenda, as it features over 100 shops from various sectors. The Norwegian Prima departs from the port in the late afternoon.

The first stop is Belfast. You can discover the City Hall, known as Belfast City Hall, on a free guided tour. If you’d rather explore the city from the water, you can do so in a rigid inflatable boat during the Belfast Sea Safari. Another highlight is the Botanic Gardens. The journey then continues to Cobh. From the port, you can take a day trip to Cork. The city is located on the southwest coast of Ireland and is relatively easy to explore on foot due to its compact size.

Afterwards, five sea days await you, which you can use to leisurely try out the various attractions on board the ship. On day 10 of your journey, you will head to Halifax, Canada. Here you can visit the historic Citadel Hill fortress and enjoy a great view of the city. Art enthusiasts can view works by local and international artists at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. After 11 nights, the journey finally ends in New York.

Norwegian Prima

The Norwegian Prima was built in 2022 and accommodates approximately 3,100 passengers in its 1,646 cabins. The ship is 294 meters long and 41 meters wide. Across its 20 decks, a crew of about 1,500 members tends to the well-being of the guests. The Norwegian Prima has a maximum speed of 23 knots and is the first ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Prima class.

Onboard, you will find 20 restaurants (some with an additional charge), 13 bars and lounges, as well as a theater, casino, disco/nightclub, a go-kart racetrack, and two giant slides. Furthermore, the Norwegian Prima offers an extensive range of fitness and wellness facilities. These include a gym, a sports court, an outdoor jogging track, a spa, sauna, solarium, and a beauty salon. Additionally, there are two swimming pools, as well as infinity pools and whirlpools.

The onboard language is English. The onboard currency is the U.S. Dollar, and you can pay for your additional expenses with cash or by credit card.

Below are some impressions from the ship:

Getting There & Back

The cruise starts in Southampton and ends in New York. Southampton Airport has limited direct connections to Europe with EasyJet, but it is possible to fly with a layover using KLM or Aer Lingus. You can save money by flying to London instead; we recommend flying to Gatwick or Heathrow, as they are the nearest airports.

For the onward journey from London to Southampton, you can then use the buses from National Express. They operate several times a day between the two cities. Tickets are available from just £6:

After arriving in the Big Apple and perhaps enjoying a multi-day city trip, it’s time for the return flight. We recommend leaving a couple of days as a buffer from the arrival date in case there is a delay on the crossing, like what happened on the Norwegian Aqua this year. Here are some options to fly back to Europe on November 4 with non-stop flights with checked luggage:
