Aegean Airlines Family Offer: Free Seat Selection, 50% Discount on Luggage & €0 Airfare for Children up to 11 Until October

Aegean Airlines Airbus A320 Neo

Aegean Airlines has launched an interesting promotion: Families travelling with at least one child under the age of 11 can book a Family fare, that waives the airfare for all children on the booking, reducing their ticket cost to taxes & surcharges. The offer can be booked until February 27, 2025 for trips between March 4 and October 26.

Since the base fare is more expensive than the Light fare for adults, you need to add at least two children to you ticket to make the offer worthwhile.

The discount refers to the fare of the ticket, to fuel surcharges (only when applied) and it does not include the airport taxes. Fares shown on the reservation system are already reduced accordingly. In case of ticket cancellation, refund policy is applied depending on fare category. Ticket changes are permitted – relevant charges depend on fare category. The offer is valid for Economy Class fares. The promo ends on 27th February, 2025 at 23:59 Greek time.

You don’t need an extra code to get the discount, they just have to travel with an adult. In the following example, the family fare is rougly €50 more expensive:

Price Check

We strongly recommend comparing prices. Even with the free seat reservation and the discount on checked bags, a family of three (two adults, one child, two checked bags) would pay roughly €80 more for a trip from Milan to Athens in October when selecting the family fare and adding all discounted extras:

However, by increasing the number of children, the offer gets more appealing. If you are travelling with three kids instead of a single child, the Family fare is notably cheaper. Even without taking the discounts on seat selection or checked bags into account, you’d save €180:

In this case, two adults and three children would pay almost €900 for the same flights when selectiong the Light Fare.
A3 MXP ATH 709 Bigger Family
…while the Family Fare prices out at €709.

Conclusion

While Aegean mainly promotes this as a “kids fly free” deal, that part of the deal is overstated for smaller families. When travelling with a single child, the Light fare is most likely the better choice. The more children you add to your booking, the more appealing the Family fare becomes.

Kids still pay taxes and fees (which make up the majority of the price) and adults are paying a higher price – so the savings are very small. However, being able to sit together for free and 50% discount on luggage seems to the more attractive part of this deal – though still nothing to go crazy about. It’s not a bad deal for larger families. Especially, as most other airlines are doing almost nothing to be family-friendly, so this is definitely better than nothing.
