This fare does not apply to Aeromexico’s non-stop services between the Madrid and Mexico City, unless you combine it with a Spanish domestic flight.

You will always have to change planes once per direction, most likely in Rome both ways. Other possible stops include Amsterdam in Europe or Guadalajara and Monterrey and Mexico. While this adds to your travel time, it is also beneficial to your mileage earnings and time spent in a lie-flat seat. Flights from Bilbao and Tenerife to Spain are operated by Air Europa.

Aeromexico operates its Boeing 787 fleet to Europe. The 787-9 features lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 pattern, the 787-8 features a 2-2-2 seating configuration. The airline changes equipment often and unannounced. You can find a review of both products here. Short-haul flights within Europe are operated by ITA Airways (to Rome) or KLM (to Amsterdam). If you connect in Mexico, Aeromexico handles domestic flights.

Visa Info

Most European passport holders can spend up to 180 days in Mexico visa-free.

Search & Book

This fare is valid without an expiration date. You need to spend one night from Saturday to Sunday to get the lowest fare. You can find departures between September 2025 and April 2026.

Google Flights indicates additional flight dates, though it can be very inaccurate at times for flights from Madrid. Flights from Tenerife and Bilbao are easier to find with the right filters.

We recommend booking directly on Aeromexico’s website, but you can find cheaper prices with Skyscanner. However, booking on OTAs has its downsides.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

    Dear Felix,
My beloved OW Aeromexico’s BCN-GRU +/- EUR 650 fare (accurately and professionally presented by Travel-Dealz’s Team) has suddenly jumped up to EUR 5.000 +++.
In your opinion such a sudden increase could be a temporary one or…?
Thanks in advance for your input on the above issue.
    Stay well.
