€199 Status Match to Star Alliance Gold
Star Alliance member TAP Air Portugal’s loyalty program Miles&Go currently offers a status match. The airline matches one of twelve elite statuses to their own gold status. Matched programs include, but are not limited to, AAdvantage, the British Airways Club, Delta SkyMiles, FlyingBlue and Iberia Plus.
Why it’s awesome: Status matches are always a welcome sight, and one that leads to an alliance wide status doubly so. This one is especially attractive, since it is open to residents from almost any European country (except Portugal) and also matches tiers from many popular programs.
Emirates Fifth Freedom Flights between Bangkok and Da Nang
As an extension of their Dubai – Bangkok – Da Nang service, Emirates sells tickets between Thailand and Vietnam for as little as €108 r/t or €63 o/w. You can also fly business for 308 r/t. Sadly, the route is not operated by their large Airbus A380 fleet, but a Boeing 777-300ER.
Why it’s awesome: Maybe you should tell us why it’s awesome – because the numbers unexpectedly went through the roof for this one. Bangkok is an important hub in the region, and Da Nang is one of the most attractive, under-the-radar cities in Southeast Asia. Emirates is not only a name with incredible brand recognition, but outprices LCCs on this route. So maybe it’s not such a big surprise it appears here.
Luxury Cruise to Antarctica w/ Flights & Accommodation
The Scenic Eclipse II is an all-suite cruise ship (the smallest cabin starts at 32m²), that embarks on a journey to Antarctica over Christmas and New Year’s Eve 2026/2027. Packages including a hotel in Buenos Aires, two domestic flights from/to Ushuaia and – of course – the 15-night cruise are available for €16,375pp.
Why it’s awesome: Both the route and the ship itself qualify for true once-in-a-lifetime experiences. With a price-tag that high, it’s rather hard to say anything convincing about value. But if you have €20,000 to spare and are keen on seeing things that you’ve never seen before, it doesn’t hurt to know that this offers exists.
