Even though the frequent flyer program SAS EuroBonus is about to undergo changes, there are still interesting promotions available. For those who are not able to achieve the required status points due to the switch to SkyTeam, they may find a chance with Hertz. Currently, there are offers of up to 5,000 status and 10,000 bonus points for car rentals.
The rental must take place between April 23 and June 30, 2024. Additionally, the deal is only valid for rentals in selected countries, including Germany, Spain, France, Benelux, the USA, and Canada.
Specifically, the offer includes:
- 1,500 extra points + 750 status points for rentals of 1 day
- 3,000 extra points + 1,500 status points for rentals of 2 to 5 days
- 5,000 extra points + 2,500 status points for rentals of 6 to 10 days
- 8,000 extra points + 4,000 status points for rentals of 11 to 14 days
- 10,000 extra points + 5,000 status points for rentals of 15 to 21 days
Unfortunately, it seems that the SAS car rental website is quite buggy. It’s common to encounter issues where the offers page itself doesn’t find rental cars, even at airports such as Frankfurt or Palma. Additionally, there are various error messages, such as an error has occurred.
Conditions
For this offer, the following conditions apply:
- Booking period: April 23 to May 6, 2024
- Rental period: April 23 to June 30, 2024 (return is also possible later)
- Valid only for bookings made through the SAS website
- The car reservations are generally refundable rates
- Before booking, you must be logged into your EuroBonus account
- Valid only for rentals in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Spain, and the USA
The landing page does not mention any restriction per person or EuroBonus account. In principle, it should be possible to achieve a status with EuroBonus solely through Hertz rentals. However, this will be quite a challenge.
Example: 11 Days Car rental, 4,000 status points and 8,000 bonus points for €265
Through the SAS site, for instance, you can book an Opel Corsa E (or similar) for 11 days at Munich Airport for €265. During the booking process, 8,000 bonus points will be displayed, and on top of that, you should also receive 4,000 status points with EuroBonus.
If booked directly with Hertz, the cheapest rate for this electric car would be €256 without a cancellation option or €282 with the possibility of cancellation. The price could then be further reduced by using a corresponding CDP (discount code for certain credit card holders, status customers, etc.).
