Kenya Airways Asante Rewards: SkyTeam Status Match from many Airline & Hotel Programs, Starting at €69

Kenya Airways Asante Rewards

The African SkyTeam member Kenya Airways previously used the Air France and KLM-dominated Flying Blue as its frequent flyer program for years. Since 2023, it has had its own program called Asante Rewards. Since 2023, it has had its own program called Asante Rewards. The program quickly gained popularity at that time thanks to a free status match.

The status match has now returned. However, unlike the last times, it comes with high participation fees. In return, participants will benefit from a SkyTeam Elite or SkyTeam Elite Plus status for 12 months. Perks include alliance-wide lounge access (starting from Gold) and an extra baggage allowance on all SkyTeam flights.

Here’s how the fees break down for European residents:

  • Match from a frequent flyer status:
    • US$80 (~€68) to Asante Rewards Silver (= SkyTeam Elite)
    • US$175 (~€150) to Asante Rewards Gold / Platinum (= SkyTeam Elite Plus)
  • Match from a hotel status:
    • US$99 (~€85) to Asante Rewards Silver (= SkyTeam Elite)
    • US$299 (~€256) to Asante Rewards Gold (= SkyTeam Elite Plus)
  • Match from a credit card (e.g., Amex Platinum):
    • US$99 (~€85) to Asante Rewards Silver (= SkyTeam Elite)
Info

Initially, a Kenya Airways status was not recognized by all SkyTeam airlines. We cannot guarantee that this is currently the case with all airlines.

Eligible Programs

The complete table with all eligible programs can be found in the FAQ. Below is an excerpt of the minimum status you need to obtain Silver / Gold / Platinum status with Asante Rewards.

Silver Elite ( = SkyTeam Elite)

For Silver status, you can verify your eligibility with an airline status, a hotel status, or selected credit cards:

Airline Programs (for €68):

  • Aegean Miles+Bonus Silver
  • Miles&More FTL
  • British Airways Club Bronze
  • Finnair Plus Silver
  • Iberia Plus Plata
  • Qatar Privilege Club Silver
  • RJ Royal Club Silver Jay
  • Singapore Krisflyer Silver
  • Turkish Miles&Smiles Classic Plus

Hotel Programs (for €85):

  • Accor ALL Silver
  • Best Western Rewards Gold
  • Choice Privileges Gold
  • Hilton Honors Silver
  • World of Hyatt Discoverist
  • IHG One Rewards Silver
  • Marriott Bonvoy Silver
  • Radisson Rewards Premium
  • Wyndham Rewards Gold

Credit Cards (for €85):

  • VISA Infinite / Platinum
  • Mastercard World / World Elite
  • Amex Platinum / Charge

Gold Elite Plus ( = SkyTeam Elite Plus)

The Gold status already corresponds to SkyTeam Elite Plus and is therefore more attractive. For this, you will need, for example:

Airline Programs (for €150):

  • Aegean Miles+Bonus Gold
  • Miles&More Senator
  • British Airways Club Silver
  • Finnair Plus Gold
  • Iberia Plus Oro
  • Qatar Privilege Club Gold
  • RJ Royal Club Gold Sparrow
  • Singapore Krisflyer Gold
  • Turkish Miles&Smiles Elite

Hotel Programs (for €256):

  • Accor ALL Gold
  • Best Western Rewards Platinum
  • Choice Privileges Platinum
  • Hilton Honors Gold
  • World of Hyatt Explorist
  • IHG One Rewards Gold
  • Marriott Bonvoy Gold
  • Radisson Rewards VIP
  • Wyndham Rewards Platinum

Platinum Elite Plus ( = SkyTeam Elite Plus)

The Platinum status offers hardly any additional benefits – and therefore costs the same. However, a hotel status is no longer sufficient here:

Airline Programs (for €150):

  • Aegean Miles+Bonus: n/a
  • Miles&More HON Circle
  • British Airways Club Gold
  • Finnair Plus Platinum
  • Iberia Plus Platino
  • Qatar Privilege Club Platinum
  • RJ Royal Club Gold Platinum
  • Singapore Krisflyer PPS
  • Turkish Miles&Smiles Elite Plus

How it Works

Below is a brief description of the individual steps:

1. Register with Asante Rewards

First, you need an account with Asante Rewards. There are two options on the website: a Quick Registration with just your name, email address, and password, or a Full Registration where additional information (including your address) is requested. The quick registration is likely sufficient, but we don’t have any reports from 2025 yet.

The quick registration is likely sufficient, but we don’t have any reports from 2025 yet. During the last match in 2023, a copy of a passport was sometimes required as proof.

Afterward, you will receive your frequent flyer number by email. You will need this for the next step:

2. Register via StatusMatch.com

The offer can only be claimed via the StatusMatch.com offer page. There, you must first enter your name, email address, Asante number (from step 1), and country of residence in the application form.

Next, you will be asked about the status you currently hold. Afterward, a screenshot of the digital or physical card of your existing status must be uploaded as proof.

Finally, you need to pay the “processing fee” ranging from US$80 (~€68) to US$299 (~€256). The application will not be processed without it. Payment is only possible by credit card:

3. Wait – and Enjoy the Benefits

After submitting the application and paying the fee, a decision will be made on your application within three business days. It may then take another 3 business days for your status to be updated and for you to be able to use the benefits.

The status is then valid for 12 months. After that, you would have to qualify according to the regular criteria. The 2023 status match included a Soft Landing. This means that if you lose Platinum status, you remain a Gold member for a year and then drop to Silver. However, it is unclear whether this will be offered again with the current promotion.

Benefits

There are three status tiers in Asante Rewards. Even a match to Silver can be worthwhile, as it includes benefits like a free baggage allowance on all SkyTeam flights.

A complete overview is available on the Kenya Airways website. Below is a summary of the most important benefits:

Silver

For Silver status, you normally need 15,000 status miles or 12 segments with Kenya Airways or its SkyTeam partners. The benefits are:

  • On flights with all SkyTeam airlines (SkyTeam Elite):
    • 1 free checked bag, even on Light fares (10 kg for airlines with a weight concept)
    • Priority waitlisting
    • Check-in at the SkyPriority counter
    • Priority Boarding
  • Additional benefits for flights with Kenya Airways:
    • 50% bonus miles (presumably only with Kenya Airways)
    • Free seat selection from 24h before departure (Preferred Seating)
  • Other:
    • Miles do not expire

Gold

Gold status is normally achievable with 30,000 status miles or 30 segments. The benefits are:

  • On flights with SkyTeam airlines (SkyTeam Elite Plus):
    • All SkyTeam Elite benefits (see above)
    • Lounge access on international and some domestic flights (+1 guest)
    • Guaranteed availability for long-haul flights in Y-class, up to 24h before departure
    • Free seat selection (usually excludes seats with extra legroom)
    • SkyPriority at security screening (where available)
  • Additional benefits for flights with Kenya Airways:
    • Free seat selection 72h before departure (Preferred Seating)
    • 75% bonus miles (instead of 50%) – presumably only with Kenya Airways
  • Other:
    • Miles do not expire

Platinum

For Platinum status, 60,000 status miles or 50 segments are normally required. The additional benefits compared to Gold status are very limited:

  • SkyTeam Elite Plus Status
  • Additional benefits for flights with Kenya Airways:
    • All Gold status benefits
    • Free seat selection immediately upon booking (Preferred Seats)
    • 100% bonus miles (instead of 75%) – presumably only with Kenya Airways

Other Status Matches

There are currently several offers for status matches. Within the SkyTeam alliance alone, there are two alternatives. The match from Vietnam Airlines is very similar to the Kenya Airways offer, with two differences: it offers a maximum of SkyTeam Elite (with a hotel status), and credit cards are not matched:

Additionally, there are various offers from other airlines, including from the Oneworld and Star Alliance. Here is an overview:

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the Asante Rewards example illustrates how the world of status matches has changed in recent years. What was a free match in 2022 now comes with high fees. You really have to consider carefully whether the participation fee is worth it.

The most interesting option here seems to be obtaining Silver status with a hotel status (or an Amex Platinum Card). It is relatively inexpensive and is enough to get a free baggage allowance on all SkyTeam flights for 12 months. The “purchase” is therefore worthwhile after just one long-haul trip on a Light fare, where you would otherwise have to pay €50 to €60 each way for checked luggage.

Am a Krisflyer Gold, but got rejected within the hour.

“As an update on the status matching process, unfortunately, we have had to halt the status matching process.”

Thanks anyway, and good luck all!

  2. Mikkel Thomsen says:

From Finnair Gold to Asante Rewards Gold – that was very easy – but what is the next step to connect to SkyTeam benefits – how will the partners accept the benefits – there are no QR-code, nothing to put Wallet. Anyone who has any experience?

  3. olav vilborn says:

this seems to be a scam. I asked two months ago the match from TK Elite+, was approved. One months-no match execution. I contacted the Kenya helpdesk-promised to execute in a week. Now again one months almost pass-no match. Seems to be typical scam.

    • Felix says:

Hi Olav! I am sorry about your bad experience. But we heard from plenty of users that have been matched, including members of the editorial team.

  4. Max says:

Confirmed from Finnair Plus Gold -> Asante Gold

  5. Anders says:

Just forgot to write here. I matched QR Platinum -> Asante Platinum a few weeks back.

  6. Leandro says:

From LatamPass Black to Asante gold

  7. Gregor says:

I sent the match a few days ago, the next day they asked me to send the screenshot again because something was invisible, then I received another message that they apologize but due to the many requests, the match (if they accept it) may take up to 5 days but until yesterday I have not received anything and when today I entered the account and saw Gold 😉 without receiving an email. Also keep your fingers crossed. Matching with Aegean Gold . Thank you travel-dealz 👍

by the way, anybody knows how to view/download the Asante digital card?

  13. Stefano says:

how long did you have to wait for the match? it’s been 2 days and no response, it seems everyone else is having an almost immediate response (from turkish airlines elite plus)

    • Peer says:

Processing times have been a couple hours when the match started last week. Now many larger frequent flyer blogs have reported about it, so waiting times of 3 – 7 days are not unheard of.

  14. Erik Österberg says:

I matched from EuroBonus Gold to Asante Gold and I know of several EuroBonus Diamond that matched to Asante Platinum.
