At Wyndham Rewards, the loyalty program of the hotel chains Wyndham, Ramada, Super 8, and Travelodge (in North America), … you’ll currently get a 40% bonus on the purchase of 11,000 points or more. The offer is valid until December 30, 2023 and you can purchase up to 200,000 points (+ bonus) instead of the usual maximum of 100,000 points as part of the promotion.
For example, typically 10,000 points cost US$130 (~€120). With the 40% bonus, the price drops to US$92.86 (~€85.85).
Initially, all award nights at Wyndham Rewards cost 15,000 points, so points could be very valuable for expensive hotels. That has changed: there are now three categories with 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 required points.
Conditions
The offer is valid until December 30, 2023 on all point purchases of at least 11,000 points. If you purchase 3,000 – 10,000 points, you’ll get a 30% bonus instead.
You’ll have the points in your account max. 72 hours after the purchase. The transaction will be processed in USD, so make sure you have a credit card with a 0% foreign currency fee.
Redeeming Wyndham Points
You can not only redeem points at Wyndham hotels, but also e.g. at Vacasa.
Wyndham Hotels
Wyndham Rewards free nights either cost 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 points. Alternatively, there is also the possibility of a Points&Cash booking starting at 1,500 points, which could be very interesting.
Wyndham’s hotels across the world are divided into the following categories:
- 7,500 points: 1,892 hotels
- 15,000 points: 5,997 hotels
- 30,000 points: 558 hotels
An overview of all hotels with the option of filtering by the number of points required can be found here.
Vacasa
For trips to North America, it’s also worth looking at redemptions with Vacasa. Similar to Airbnb, various holiday homes and flats are rented out. Many one-bedroom units can be booked for as little as 15,000 Wyndham points per night. In Hawaii, for example, the equivalent of 2 cents per point can be achieved. Unfortunately, booking and availability inquiries are only possible by telephone. You can read helpful tips for redeeming with Vacasa at Frequentmiler.
Recently, Vacasa redemptions appear to have a price limit of $350 per night including all taxes & fees. This is a devaluation of 30% because previously accommodations up to $500 / night could be booked with points.
An equivalent value of 2 cents per point is still very decent, especially compared to the other Wyndham redemptions. However, it can be further devalued at any time.
Miles
Alternatively, you can also convert Wyndham Rewards points into miles, but the ratio is not very attractive (6:1.2).
Redemption Example
Not only cheap hotels but also expensive hotels can be attractive redemption options. For instance, a La Quinta Inn in Gillette, Wyoming would charge you US$619 (~€572) in the summer (e.g. on August 11, 2024). In the meanwhile, purchasing the required 15,000 points would only cost you US$140 (~€129), saving you over US$479 (~€443) per night – or about 78%!
