For a limited time, Royal Jordanian’s frequent flyer program is offering the chance to obtain Oneworld Sapphire status by leveraging a hotel status. This status provides numerous perks on flights with airlines like British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar Airways, and Cathay Pacific. Benefits include lounge access, priority boarding and check-in, as well as additional baggage allowance.
A similar offer (priced at $149 back then) was available last year but ended after just a few days. The price has now increased to $199 and the deal has been relaunched until January 17, 2025.
This status match is only available for residents of Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Netherlands, Oman, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, or the UAE.
The requirements have also become slightly stricter. To qualify for the Gold Sparrow status (= Oneworld Sapphire), you must have one of the following hotel statuses:
- Accor Platinum or higher
- Hilton Diamond
- Hyatt Globalist
- IHG Diamond
- Marriott Platinum or higher

Once the match is approved, you’ll keep the Oneworld Sapphire status for 12 months. It doesn’t matter whether or not you fly with Royal Jordanian during this period.
The FAQ mentions extending eligibility to hotel programs:
Hotel Status Match: Gold status match is only available, for a US $199 application fee, until Jan 22, 2025 for top-tier elites at: Accor (Platinum or higher), Hilton (Diamond), Hyatt (Globalist), IHG (Diamond or higher), Marriott (Platinum or higher) .
Elsewhere the deadline of January 17 is emphasized, so it’s best not to wait too long. Other programs, like Radisson Rewards, are also eligible but will only grant Oneworld Ruby status for a reduced price of $49. Additionally, certain competitor frequent flyer programs can be matched to Oneworld Sapphire for $149.
More information about how to apply for the status match can be found in our article on the Royal Jordanian status match for frequent flyer programs:
