With a little trickery, it is currently possible to purchase Swiss First Class tickets from Stockholm and Gothenburg to Bangkok, with prices as low as SEK 30,309 (~€2,741). You might have to add hotel costs for two nights in Zurich to that total – but still save more than buying a regular ticket.
You can only reach the desired fare by booking a ticket with a stop in Zurich in each direction, that has to be at least 24 hours long. It can also be several weeks or even months long, so you can book other tickets from Zurich in the meantime.
Because the stops are required to get the lowest fare, booking the tickets is a tad bit more complicated than usual.
To book on Lufthansa’s or SWISS’ website, you can use our Go2 search form. The discounted tickets are available from March through December 2023. A 24-hour stopover in Zurich is necessary in both directions if you want to score the advertised fare.

Flights between Gothenburg and Zurich are operated by wet-leased airBaltic planes. From Stockholm, you will be boarding SWISS own planes. All these short-haul flights are European Business Class trips.
Flights between Zurich and Bangkok are Boeing 777-300ER services with SWISS’ superb First Class suites in a 1-2-1 seating pattern. On flights from Zurich to Bangkok, you will be able to enjoy the airlines’ dedicated First Class lounge in Zurich.

The fare rules for these tickets offer no sales or expiration date. You need to stay at least 8 days in Thailand to get the cheapest tickets. The lowest fares show up for travel between March and December 2022.
Finding Availabilities
Because Google Flights multistop search has no convenient way to preview prices for multistop journeys, we turn our attention to the new ITA Matrix. You can use this link to open the Matrix with a preset search for first class tickets from Stockholm to Bangkok.

Now, you need to add to parameters to your search. Enter LX+
as a routing code and minconnect 24:00
as an extension code. That way, the Matrix displays only flights with Swiss and a layover in Zurich longer than 24 hours.
Secondly, scroll a bit down and set the button that says “search exact dates” to “show calendar”. Now you are set to go.

Hit the search button at the bottom of the page and marvel at the available flights:

Buy Tickets
After finding suiting flight dates with the Matrix, you can use our search form above to buy tickets directly from the airline. Make sure to select exactly the flights you found in the Matrix’ itinerary to get the lowest price. You can try it on the airline website yourself or use our Go2 form above, that should make it a little easier than Lufthansa’s clunky multistop search.

Information & Tips for Thailand
Thailand is famous for its vibrant cities, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural heritage. Key sights include the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in Bangkok, the ancient city of Ayutthaya, and the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui. The currency is the Thai baht (THB), and while credit cards are commonly accepted in tourist areas, cash is often preferred in local markets. The cost of living is generally low, with budget accommodations and street food available, but prices can rise in more touristy areas. The weather is tropical, with a hot, rainy season from May to October and a cooler, dry season from November to February.
Getting around Thailand is fairly easy, with a mix of modern and traditional options. In cities like Bangkok, public transport includes the Skytrain (BTS), metro (MRT), and river ferries, which are convenient but can get crowded. Taxis and motorbike taxis are also widely available. For intercity travel, buses and trains are common and affordable, though train journeys can be slow. Domestic flights are frequent and often the fastest way to travel longer distances, especially to popular islands or northern regions. However, traffic congestion in urban areas can be a challenge, particularly during rush hours.

Is it required to board in Stockholm? If I am from Zurich I could book the flight Stockholm -> Zurich -> Bangkok and just board in Zurich and leave the flight in Stockholm?
You can do this on your way back home, but not on departure. In other words: No, you have to fly from Stockholm
