One of the most restrictive travel policies of the Covid-19 pandemic will come to an end: From February 21 onwards, Australia welcomes back vaccinated tourists and business travellers.
While a PCR-test (up to 72 hours before departure) or rapid antigen-test (up to 24 hours before departure) is mandatory to board a plane to Australia, no additional quarantine measures are required. On the other hand, unvaccinated travellers still have to apply for an exemption and have to wait until at least April 2022. Australian officials want to declare the country fully open by then.
Only Western Australia has yet to join the other states in accepting those rules. That means you should be able to enter Australia via any major international airport but Perth. After almost two years of banning international visitors, this is great news for all those who have this marvelous continent on their travel bucket list. Or can’t wait to meet friends or family again.
In conclusion, from February 21 onwards, European travellers need their proof of vaccination, a negative test and a visa to travel Down Under. Applying for a visa is free and can be done online. This certainly makes deals like this much more interesting:
