Miles&More: Converting eVouchers into (Qualifying) Points Now Possible

Swiss A320 before takeoff in Zurich

Miles&More has announced a new option for earning (Qualifying) Points outside of flying. Effective immediately, you can exchange your eVouchers for Qualifying or HON Circle Points. Each eVoucher gives you 50 Points, and Senators and HON Circle Members can now also carry over additional Points into the next year. This means you can take 100 points per eVoucher into the next year toward re-qualifying for status.

Miles&More says this option will be available permanently, so you can rely on it in the future when working toward Senator or HON Circle status. The qualifying points earned by converting eVouchers also count toward Lifetime Status.

Extra Qualifying Points for eVouchers

You can redeem all eVouchers in your account, but each transaction restricts you to four. The process is irreversible and can take up to 24 hours for the points to post. You’ll find the option under “Status Management” on the Miles&More website; it is not yet available in the app.

Using eVouchers to Carry Over Qualifying Points to Next Year

The rules differ slightly when transferring additional Qualifying Points into the next year. This option is only available to Senators and HON Circle Members who have earned at least 100 additional qualifying points (or HON Circle points for HON Circle members) within the current calendar year. You can carry these over to the next year by exchanging eVouchers via the “Status Management” page. Each eVoucher gives you 100 Points for the next year.

The system will debit your account the converted points within 24 hours and then credit it again in January. Unfortunately, these do not count as additional qualifying points for lifetime status. This option is also irreversible, so make sure you won’t need the eVouchers for something else.

Conclusion – Is It Worth It?

At first glance, I’d say no. Using eVouchers for upgrades usually gives you much better value. But if your eVoucher(s) would otherwise expire, e.g. because of lack of availability, or because you’re a Frequent Traveller who gets only one extra eVoucher and can’t really use it, then exchanging them is definitely the better, albeit not ideal, option.
