Singapore Airlines Network Changes: A380 to Frankfurt, Non-Stop to Barcelona, Increased Frequency on Many Flights

Airlines must always plan ahead and decide where to send their planes in the future. Usually, updated flight schedules are released twice a year. Singapore Airlines has published its changes, and we’ve found them to include quite a few positive developments. Not only is the famous Airbus A380 making its comeback to Europe, but we’re also seeing Singapore increase its frequency on many flights, as well as now offering direct flights to Barcelona. We’ve summed up all changes here.

Airbus A380 to Frankfurt from March 31, 2024

Currently, there is no route to Europe, on which Singapore Airlines deploys its popular Airbus A380. Starting March 31, however, the whale will be sent to Frankfurt again every day with these flight times:

  • SQ326: Singapore 10:55 → 17:40 Frankfurt
  • SQ325: Frankfurt 22:00 → 16:25 Singapore

Singapore-Manchester-Houston Back to 5x per Week from March 31, 2024

Singapore Airlines has a couple of fifth-freedom routes in its network, one of them being Manchester-Houston. While they are currently only sending their Airbus A350-900LH on this journey 3 times a week, the pre-pandemic frequency of 5/week will return from March 31. These are the flight times:

  • SQ52: Singapore 2:25 → 9:10 Manchester (except Monday and Thursday)
  • SQ52: Manchester 10:40 → 14:30 Houston (except Monday and Thursday)
  • SQ51: Houston 19:10 → 10:05 Manchester (except Monday and Thursday)
  • SQ51: Manchester 11:40 → 7:40 Singapore (except Tuesday and Friday)

Four Weekly Flights to Seattle from May 28, 2024

While currently only flying to Seattle thrice a week with its Airbus A350-900, Singapore Airlines will return to its pre-pandemic frequency of 4 weekly flights, starting May 28, 2024. These flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Here are the flight details:

  • SQ28: Singapore 09:00 → 08:45 Seattle
  • SQ27: Seattle 10:20 → 17:30 Singapore

Non-Stop Singapore-Barcelona; Less Milan ↔ Barcelona from June 2024

Currently, Singapore Airlines is sending an Airbus A350-900LH on a Singapore-Milan-Barcelona-Milan-Singapore trip. With the demand to/from Barcelona increasing, the airline will start to offer direct flights to Barcelona twice a week, additionally to the then-daily Singapore-Milan flights. The fifth-freedom flights between Barcelona and Milan will remain, though only on three days per week. This is how it will play out:

  • SQ388: Singapore 23:35 → 06:55 Barcelona on Thursdays and Sundays
  • SQ387: Barcelona 12:00 → 06:55 Singapore on Mondays and Fridays
  • SQ356/378: Singapore 23:30 → 06:10 Milan
  • SQ378: Milan 7:40 → 9:15 Barcelona on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday
  • SQ377: Barcelona 10:40 → 12:20 Milan on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday
  • SQ355/377: Milan 13:00/13:50 → 07:00/07:50 Singapore

The flight from Milan to Singapore departs 50 minutes later on the days on which Singapore has the fifth-freedom route to Barcelona planned.

Daily Flights to Copenhagen from July 1, 2024

Due to the pandemic, Singapore Airlines had reduced the frequency of its flights to Copenhagen, currently only flying to the Danish capital five times a week. While this will continue to be the case for quite a while, Singapore Airlines expects to be flying daily again starting July 1 of next year. These are the flight times for that flight:

  • SQ352: Singapore 00:35 → 06:55 Copenhagen
  • SQ351: Copenhagen 12:20 → 6:20 Singapore

Singapore Airlines will continue to use its Airbus A350-900LH for that flight.

Other changes

More changes have been announced for flights within Asia. These are usually not as exciting, but here’s a short summary of the remaining changes:

  • Singapore → Cairns up to 4x/week, using an Airbus A350-900MH instead of a Boeing 737-8
  • Singapore → Darwin daily instead of 5/week.
  • Singapore → Melbourne 5/week instead of 4/week.
  • Singapore → Perth daily from March 31, 2024
  • Singapore → Dhaka 9/week instead of 7/week.
  • Singapore → Beijing 3/day instead of 2/day.
  • Singapore → Hong Kong 6/day from August 1, 2024
  • Singapore → Shanghai 5/day from March 31, 2024
  • Singapore → Ahmedabad daily instead of 5/week
  • Singapore → Tokyo 4/day from September 1, 2024
  • Singapore → Male with Airbus A350-900MH instead of a Boeing 737-8
  • Singapore → Yangon 10/week instead of 7/week.
  • Singapore → Dubai 11/week instead of 7/week.
