Oneworld member Qatar Airways surprises us with a relatively cheap price for their first class service, taking you from Cairo to Hong Kong and back for just EGP 87,704 (~€1,561) with a stop in Doha. Flights from Cairo to Doha are Qatar Airways’ regional first product. The long haul flights are operated by leased/former Cathay Pacific Boeing 777, featuring the airlines’ First Class seating accompanied by Qatar Airways’ First Class service.
Sadly, tickets have become roughly €100 more expensive recently. While the price in Egyptian Pound remained steady, the currency has slightly gained in value for the first time since more than five years.

Flights between Doha and Cairo are Boeing 777 services, marketed as Regional First. You will most likely be seated in a Qsuite or QR’s old 2-2-2 business class seating – still a great product for the two-hour flight. Flights to Hong Kong are scheduled to be Boeing 777-300ER services, operated by former Cathay Pacific Boeing 777 that still got the former owners’ hardware installed. It features two rows of first class seats in a 1-1-1 pattern.
Qatar Airways can switch planes at any time and without notice. The airlines does not have a dedicated first class on many of their own planes. While chances are high you might get the Cathay Pacific 777, there is no guarantee – you might end up in Qatar Airways business class and have to fight for compensation.

The fare give no sales period nor travel period. A minimum stay of three nights or a weekend in Hong Kong applies to get the lowest fare.
Google Flights previews excellent availabilities. For tickets in this price category, you should book directly with the airline.
To make sure you get Cathay Pacific’s first class seats, check the seat map before buying tickets. If Qatar Airways previews a 1-1-1 seating pattern, they plan to deploy the plane in question on your flight.

Hong Kong is known for its skyline, Victoria Peak, harbour views, and a mix of modern and traditional sights like temples and street markets. The local currency is the Hong Kong dollar (HKD), and credit cards are widely accepted, though cash is still useful in smaller shops and markets.
