There are a few non-stop connections (e.g. Madrid – New York, Madrid – Chicago) offered by Iberia.

Often, the more affordable options involve one or two layovers. However, the connecting flights are typically in economy class. Instead of enduring a six-hour economy class flight from New York to San Francisco, flights via London are a recommended choice for just a small additional cost.

On some routes (BCN – JFK, BCN – BOS, BCN – LAX), you will encounter non-stop connections operated by LEVEL. This budget airline is not a member of Oneworld and comes with various disadvantages (onboard service, miles, etc.). If you already have a credit card in your wallet, you should make sure that it does not charge a foreign currency fee if possible. Carrying a few dollars in cash doesn’t hurt though.
