USA: €655 Oneworld Premium Economy from Spain

American Airlines Premium Economy

Oneworld members Iberia, American Airlines, and British Airways are offering a premium economy deal from Spain to the USA starting at just €655. This deal includes 2x 23kg of checked luggage. Departures are available in May and June, and between the end of August to March 2025, with blackout dates during Christmas vacations.

Here is a selection of affordable connections:

1 – includes flights operated by Level (low-cost carrier)

If you book the itinerary as an open-jaw flight with the return to Madrid, you can save up to €50:

  • Bilbao – Chicago | Chicago – Madrid at €635
  • Valencia – Chicago | San Francisco – Madrid at €655
  • Malaga – Washington | Washington – Madrid at €649
  • Malaga – San Francisco | San Francisco – Madrid at €691
  • Madrid – Chicago | Chicago – Munich at €762
Info

You can save an additional 10% on these prices if you purchase a currently discounted Iberia gift card and redeem it during the booking process. This only works on itineraries that are exclusively operated by Iberia, Iberia Express or Air Nostrum.

Depending on the connection, the cheapest tickets are available through Iberia, British Airways, and/or American. For booking, you can also use our search tool:

There are a few non-stop connections (e.g. Madrid – New York, Madrid – Chicago) offered by Iberia.

Often, the more affordable options involve one or two layovers. However, the connecting flights are typically in economy class. Instead of enduring a six-hour economy class flight from New York to San Francisco, flights via London are a recommended choice for just a small additional cost.

On some routes (BCN – JFK, BCN – BOS, BCN – LAX), you will encounter non-stop connections operated by LEVEL. This budget airline is not a member of Oneworld and comes with various disadvantages (onboard service, miles, etc.). Nevertheless, for those seeking a more comfortable seat than Economy, it might still be worth considering.

Search & Book

This deal will expire on May 14, 2024. A minimum stay of a Saturday overnight and a maximum stay of three months applies. Departures are available in May and June, and between the end of August to March 2025, with blackout dates during Christmas vacations.

You can find suitable dates using our calendar above or with the help of Google Flights. We recommend booking directly on Iberia‘s, British Airways‘, and/or American‘s website.

Open Jaw Ticket

On the outbound journey, the arrival in Spain is obligatory. However, on the return journey, it is possible to route the flights via other countries in Europe and potentially just disembark there. It is advisable to plan an overnight layover in, for example, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, or Munich to ensure that the luggage is not checked through. Here’s an example for €692:

Destination

Information & Tips for USA

The USA offers many sights, natural wonders and cultural significance. Thanks to numerous airlines offering flights across the Atlantic, it is always pretty inexpensive to get there. Alternatively, you can also cross the Atlantic by boat.

Immigration, ESTA & Visa Requirements

The USA has one of the strictest entry regulations in the world. Most EU citizens, among others, are lucky to be able to participate in the so-called Visa Waiver Program. If you get an electronic entry permit (ESTA)  for approximately €20, you don’t need a visa for entry.

The Best Time to Visit

Due to its sheer size, the perfect time to visit the USA varies greatly from region to region. In winter, Florida is very popular due to the mild temperatures. In the summer the West and East Coasts are flooded by tourists which drives up the prices for hotels and flights and during the Indian Summer in late autumn New England is a very popular destination. The hurricane season between July and September can be dangerous in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. Florida and the southern states are regularly struck by these tropical storms. Blizzards occur from the East Coast to the Midwest during the winter months and regularly put air traffic and public life on hold.

Currency

The US dollar is widely used throughout the world and accepted as a currency in most tourist hotspots worldwide. That being said, carrying cash isn’t necessary in the US, all you need is a credit card! These are very common in the USA and are accepted pretty much everywhere without any issues. If you already have a credit card in your wallet, you should make sure that it does not charge a foreign currency fee if possible. Carrying a few dollars in cash doesn’t hurt though. You might need cash e.g. for the bus ticket if you want to buy it directly from the driver. Most of the time you even have to give exact change.
