The Star Alliance member Air China currently has a great offer for flights to Vietnam. Departing from Frankfurt, you can reach Hanoi for only €425. You can travel from January to March 2024, and checked baggage is included.
For an additional fee of around €60, you can also reach other destinations such as Kuala Lumpur or Manila (also from Munich).
Entry into Vietnam is possible without any special restrictions.
To search and book, you can also simply use the following form and be redirected to various OTAs or the airline. Note the travel period from January to March 2024:

Initially, you typically fly with Air China from Germany to Shenzhen. These flights are usually operated with Boeing 777 aircraft. From there, you continue to Hanoi on a Boeing 737, operated by Shenzhen Airlines. On the way back, you’ll have a 10-hour layover in Shenzhen before flying back to Europe.
Search & Book
According to the fare rules, the fare is bookable until January 31, 2024 for travel between January and May 2024 (although we could only find affordable availability until March 2024). The minimum stay is 6 days, and you can stay a maximum of 3 months.
Unfortunately, you won’t find suitable dates using Google Flights. The ITA Matrix is your best option. Simply enter the routing code “CA+” along with the desired month and travel duration. Afterwards, you’ll see all affordable dates listed in the calendar. Unfortunately, the Matrix also displays some incorrect availabilities. You can book the flights through Skyscanner or directly with the airline.

Information & Tips for Hanoi
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, offers a blend of historical sites, chaotic street life, and traditional culture. Popular places to visit include the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Like the rest of Vietnam, the currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND), and travel costs are generally low—street food, local transport, and entrance fees are budget-friendly. The weather has more variation than the south, with hot, rainy summers from May to September and cooler, drier winters, especially from December to February.

Information & Tips for Vietnam
Vietnam offers a mix of vibrant cities, historic landmarks, and natural beauty—popular sights include Ha Long Bay, the old town of Hoi An, the Cu Chi Tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi’s colonial architecture. The official currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND), and while prices are generally low compared to Western standards, tourist hotspots can be more expensive. Expect a tropical climate with hot, humid summers and a rainy season that varies by region—so packing accordingly is key.
Vietnam’s transport infrastructure is mixed—within cities, getting around is relatively easy thanks to widespread motorbike taxis and ride-hailing apps, though traffic can be chaotic and sidewalks crowded. Public buses exist but are often confusing for tourists. Between cities, options include budget airlines, trains, and long-distance buses; while not always fast or punctual, they are generally affordable and accessible with some planning.
