Star Alliance member Air China is offering cheap flights from Stockholm to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Manila in the Philippines. The tickets only cost €463, including 23 kg of luggage. On the outbound flight, you’ll have a 10-hour layover in Beijing. Sounds bad at first, but it’s a perfect chance to quickly explore the Chinese capital or the Great Wall of China before flying on.
The cheapest prices seem to be limited to April and early May 2026. The cheapest price seems to appear if you fly on a Wednesday in both directions. You are welcome to use our search form to see how much the flights cost for your preferred route and dates:

You will be allowed to check in one suitcase weighing up to 23 kg. Additionally, you can also bring a carry-on weighing up to 5 kg.
Between Stockholm and Beijing, you’ll be seated in an Airbus A350 for around 9 hours. The flights to Vietnam or the Philippines take another ~5 hours, depending on the exact route.
Most Europeans (including Swedes) can enter Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days. In the Philippines, Europeans are limited to 30 days.
Editor’s Note: Cheap flights to Vietnam and the Philippines are not as common as to, e.g. Thailand. So this deal for under €500 in beautiful springtime, incl. luggage, is a great deal. I’d even count the 10-hour layover in Beijing as a nice positive extra, allowing you to do some sightseeing on the way.
Search & Book
Sadly, Google Flights’s calendar is no help at finding available dates. Luckily, Skyscanner‘s calendar can help you out. Enter your preferred route, and then select Flexible dates.

You’ll then be shown the prices for each outbound and inbound date, with the cheapest marked in green. Be aware that Skyscanner doesn’t have all prices loaded. Dates with a magnifying glass could be available as well. Make sure to experiment a bit. What we noticed is that prices seem to be cheapest on Wednesdays in April and early May.

While we recommend using Skyscanner to search for availability, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for booking. Booking through a trustable OTA, such as Trip.com (with better customer service and good connections to Air China) should be better than some random OTA. Their website is also more user-friendly (especially for English-speakers) than Air China’s website. The only advantage of Air China’s website is that it has a +/- 3 day calendar, with reliable results.
