SAS Family & Friends: Up to 54% Discount on Flights until June 2025

SAS Heck

This spring, SAS Scandinavian Airlines is offering a reduced “Family & Friends” fare for flights on short and long-haul routes. The discounts are quite impressive and also include business class. Depending on the route and travel class, we observed savings between 8% and 54%.

We don’t assume that you happen to have a SAS employee in your circle of friends. Fortunately, the term “friends” is quite broad. And because we are all, of course, friends with the CEO of SAS Ground Handling, he readily shared the access code publicly on LinkedIn. So take a look there (or simply try it with HELLOSPRING).

Nowhere on the website is there any mention of having to present proof of any kind. Members of the SAS Shareholder Club are even officially allowed to participate.

Depending on the route, either the regular fares are directly reduced, or, within Europe, a separate fare called “SAS for You” will appear.

Example Prices

Below are a few examples of prices with and without the Family & Friends discount.

Short-Haul Routes in Europe

Especially within Europe, the percentage of the discount can vary greatly. Sometimes it’s even more than the advertised maximum of 50%, often significantly less.

Example: A one-way flight Berlin → Stockholm on March 18, 2025, normally costs €120 in the Light fare without any extras. And €142 if carry-on and checked baggage are to be included. Via the Family & Friends page, the Light fare costs only €56 and the Smart fare €66:

While regular booking classes like SAS Go or SAS Smart should earn you miles and points, flights booked in SAS For You most likely won’t.

Long-Haul Routes

On long-haul routes, we observed discounts of up to 30%, making some already affordable offers even more attractive. The business class flights from Scandinavia to North America stand out, although they come with a short travel period (end of May to early June).

  • Business Class: Oslo – New York nonstop for €1,110 instead of €1,559 (-29%)
    • e.g., May 21 to 28, 2025
  • Business Class: Oslo – Boston for €1,136 instead of €1,558 (-27%)
    • e.g., May 24 to 31, 2025
  • Economy Class incl. baggage: Copenhagen – Los Angeles for €564 instead of €703 (-20%)
    • e.g., March 18 to 26, 2025
  • Economy Class incl. baggage: Oslo – Washington, DC for €438 instead of €520 (-16%)
    • e.g. April 3 to 15, 2025
  • Economy Class incl. baggage: Hamburg – Tokyo for €770 instead of €916 (-16%)
    • e.g., March 11 to 19, 2025
  • Economy Class incl. baggage: Stockholm – Chicago for €459 instead of €541 (-15%)
    • e.g. April 19 to 27, 2025
  • Economy Class incl. baggage: Berlin – New York for €481 instead of €522 (-8%)
    • e.g., April 4 to 14, 2025

Conditions

Below is a brief overview of the most important restrictions and conditions:

  • Booking period: until February 25, 2025
  • Travel period: March 4 to June 8, 2025
  • Only flights operated by SAS (or SAS Connect, BRA, etc.) are available
  • Depending on the fare, a rebooking fee may apply
  • There are only a certain number of specific tickets per flight
  • Mixed cabin bookings (e.g., business one way, economy the other) are also possible

How It Works

To book, you must first go to the Family & Friends page of SAS. There you will be asked to enter an access code like the aforementioned HELLOSPRING:

Afterwards, you will see the usual SAS booking mask, where you can select your origin, destination, and date. When selecting the fare, there are different possibilities:

  • Option 1: A new fare SAS For You / SAS for You Smart appears, which is not normally offered.
  • Option 2: The normal fares are displayed but at a reduced price. It’s best to compare this with a different internet browser to see how much you can really save.

There is a calendar on the website with crossed-out prices that is supposed to compare the prices with and without the discount. However, it is not always accurate. In some cases, €150 was displayed as the comparison price for Berlin – Stockholm, although tickets were actually available for €70.

This promo is awesome. Don’t know what happened but some fares I was watching which were £180+ dropped to £90, then with this promo came down to £50! I’m doing my SAS Gold status challenge for £100. Very happy with that!!!
