Star Alliance member Air China is known to offer great deals on trips from Europe to Asia. This time you can fly from Budapest to Phuket, the province in Thailand that is famous for its beautiful beaches. Prices for a round-trip start at HUF 118,910/€365. One piece of checked luggage is already included.
The first flight segment will take your from Budapest to Beijing, China. After a layover, your trip to Phuket will continue. Most EU citizens will be eligible for a transit visa in China. Just be sure to approach the right counter after your arrival.
Your return-flight could include a second layover in Minsk. This might be a rather unusual transfer airport for most travelers. But also here, EU citizens won’t require a visa.

We’ve been able to find connections mostly in October, November and December. But there could be more. The end of the year is a great time to visit Thailand since it’s supposed to be rather cool and dry.
Minimum stay requirement is 7 days; the maximum is 3 months. Tickets will be issued in booking class L. You can earn miles up to 25% of the actual distance traveled.
As with many Air China flights, you will have trouble searching and finding them with Google Flights (instructions). You will be able to find the connections, but Google might not diplay any prices. The ITA Matrix can help you find availabilities, as will Skyscanner. The later will compare all the prices that OTAs offer and get you the best deal.
Information & Tips for Phuket
Phuket is famous for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife in Patong, cultural sights like the Big Buddha, and nearby islands such as Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay. The local currency is the Thai baht (THB), and credit cards are widely accepted in tourist areas. Prices in Phuket can vary; luxury resorts and fine dining can be expensive, but there are plenty of affordable options for food and accommodation, especially outside the main tourist hubs. The weather is tropical, with a hot, humid climate year-round, and the best time to visit is during the dry season from November to March.
