China Southern Airlines is offering this deal from Europe to Manila with prices as low as €468 from Frankfurt. This fare is valid for departures between March and June and includes one checked bag up to 23 kg.
The flghts from continental Europe have a short layover (2-4 hours) on the outbound flight but they may have a long layover (up to 10 hours) on the inbound flight that you can use to visit Guangzhou. If you are flying from London you may have to do an overnight stay that China Southern provides a complimentary stay.
To enter China for a 24-hour transit, you will not need a visa. For layovers of 144 hours in Beijing or 72 hours in Guangzhou, you can check if your passport is valid at this link.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

Do Filipino citizens ned a transit visa for Guanghzhou?
According to https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g298555-i3651-k14597650-Do_I_need_to_apply_for_transit_visa-Guangzhou_Guangdong.html, there is a transit area in Guangzhou, which means that you don’t need to pass immigration and therefor don’t need a visa:

You will not be able to use the 144h visa-free travel to Guangzhou, but that shouldn’t be needed anyway. However, it’s always best to confirm directly with the authorities or airlines.
