Cancún, Mexico: TAP Business Class from 10 European Cities Starting at €1,162 (Incl. Non-Stop from Lisbon)

Star Alliance member TAP Portugal has issued some great fares for business class leisure travel to the Caribbean destination Cancun. Prices start as low as €1,162 from Porto. Departures are available between November to March 2025.

Here are possible departure cities for less than €1,500 and without a stopover:

Our calendar displays all available dates for trips of up to 28 days for trips from Lisbon. Trips from other airports are available on roughly the same dates. Once you’ve selected the route and dates that suit you best, you can either be redirected to our Skyscanner to get the cheaper OTA price or to TAP’s website, where you’ll pay roughly €40 more.

On their route to Cancún, TAP uses Airbus A330-200 planes. These feature the airlines’ previous business class configuration of alternating 1-2-2 and 1-2-1 seats. While not as flashy as their Airbus A330-900neo fleet, it is still a modern product.

Not too long ago, TAP’s Executive Class was infamously subpar. By now, however, all planes have been equipped with new seats that can be converted into fully flat beds and offer quite a high comfort. Especially the Throne seat on the long-range A321 is top-notch, being twice as big as other seats.

Tickets at this price are on sale until May 21, 2024 and are valid for departure between November to March 2025. Your inbound flight may arrive later. The minimum stay requirement is five nights or a night from Saturday to Sunday. A maximum stay of one month applies. Since TAP pauses its Cancun flights at the end of March, availability also ends at the time.

Google Flights shows you all available flight dates, as does our calendar above. You can either get the cheapest price on Skyscanner or pay roughly €40 more to book directly on TAP’s website.

Booking on TAP’s website gives the added benefit of adding a stopover in Lisbon of up to five days without increasing the ticket price.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
