FlixTrain: Berlin ↔ Basel for €10 and Other Destinations from €3

Flixtrain Berlin

Since 2017, FlixTrain has been operating in Germany, breaking Deutsche Bahn’s monopoly with a vast network of destinations around the country. This includes connections from the German capital to Freiburg/Basel, Stuttgart, and Hamburg. Train tickets for these routes are available from €10.

You can also take advantage of these deals for shorter distances, such as from Dresden to Berlin for €4.99 or from Berlin to Hamburg for €6.99 in the FlixTrain website.

Hint

You can pay to choose your seat or a little extra to have the seat next to you empty, the best money you will spend on that seven hour train ride.

If you are traveling around Germany with the Deutschland Ticket, you can use these offers to shorten your travel time and ensure that you have a seat on your train.

For example, this year I traveled to Hamburg from Berlin with the Deutschland Ticket, with two transfers in 4 hours and a half, and I returned directly with FlixTrain and just took 2 hours. In the case of Leipzig to Berlin, the train takes at least three hours with transfers on regional trains, and with FlixTrain it takes one hour and a half.

You might also have a situation like me, where on another trip to Hamburg, I booked the bus at the last minute because it was €15 cheaper than the train, and FlixBus changed my reservation to their train service.

We have reviewed the offers in this promotion to make it easier for you, and these are the prices you can get for the following destinations:

About FlixTrain

FlixTrain aims to compete with Deutsche Bahn and offers good prices on its routes if you book in advance. The prices theoretically start at €4,99, but for shorter distances (like Aachen to Cologne), they can be even cheaper.

FlixTrain offers one piece of hand luggage, one suitcase, Wi-Fi, and power outlets in its wagons. FlixTrain also promises that each passenger will have their seat, which is not the case with DB, although if you want to choose your seat, you have to pay a little extra.

Here is the route network for 2023:

FlixTrain may not always have the cheapest price, so we recommend checking the prices on Deutsche Bahn and choosing the option that suits you best depending on your circumstances.
