Hyatt Regency Phuket: 4-for-3 Rate for €114/Night incl. Breakfast, Room Upgrade, $100 Credit & Early Check-in

Hyatt Regency Phuket Aerial

The Thai island Phuket is a very popular holiday spot, thanks to its beautiful beaches, interesting nightlife and Thai cuisine. The island also hosts many of the top hotel brands, which also includes the five-star Hyatt Regency.

Normally, a room would cost €155 per night for a non-refundable member rate. However, this deal not only offers stays cheaper than that at €117 per night, it is also refundable. ASMALLWORLD rate also includes perks such as free breakfast, a welcome amenity, US$100 (~€93) credit in addition to an upgrade and early check-in subject to availability.

To book this rate, you need to create a free profile on ASW’s website. Rooms are available between April and June and September, so most of the travel period is within the rain period. Please remember, you have to pick four green dates to get the lowest rate.

Information & Tips for Phuket

Phuket is a southern province and also the largest island of Thailand in Southeast Asian. While Bangkok is more of a tourist destination, Phuket offers a lot of recreational options on the beach and is located in the Indian Ocean rather than the Gulf of Thailand.

Although Phuket is not always as easy to reach as Bangkok and it will often take an additional layover to get there, you can combine your beach holiday with a city trip to Bangkok. You can first book your flights to Bangkok and then separate (cheap!) flights from Bangkok to Phuket if you really can’t find a good deal from Europe.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to travel is from November to February. During this time it is dry and comparatively cool but of course still ideal for a beach holiday. The rainy season runs from mid-May to October.

From/to the airport

From the airport to different cities/resorts on the island, it is best to take a taxi (or Uber). Bus connections are cheaper but also much slower.

You would book either a King Bed Room or a Twin Room which both measure 46 square meters or 495 square feet. The room is spacious and has a table with a chair, a sofa and a closet. The bathroom has a proper bath and a shower. The price includes an upgrade, subject to availability. Most likely to an ocean view room or a family room. The Ocean View rooms are the same size, while the family rooms are 20 square meters larger. Here are some pictures of the King Bed Room:

The Hotel

The Hyatt Regency Phuket is situated in the Western part of the island in Kamala Beach. The airport is a 45-minute drive away with a surprisingly quick bus option: 53 minutes from Kamala Beach (however, you’d need a ride to the bus stop anyway) at THB 100 (~€3). Nearby are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets. The area is generally marketed for families (so is the resort), although according to Phuket 101, the nightlife has improved in recent years.

The hotel has over 200 rooms and has a large selection of facilities such as the island’s largest infinity pool. There’s also the Nahm Spa and a 24-hour gym. The dining options include the Pool House Kitchen, the Bohemian-style Casa Boho, the Mizu Teppanyaki Japanese restaurant and the One 80° Pool Bar.

To give you an idea of what your $100 food credit is worth: A Pizza Margherita at the Pool House Kitchen would set you back THB 518 (~€13), while ordering a vegetable Pad Thai to your room would cost THB 353 (~€9).

The hotel enjoys a 4.4/5 rating on Google with an overwhelming amount of guests praising the property and service. The resort’s shortcomings – according to some reviews – are the bathrooms and accessibility. A few reviews also dislike the air conditioning and the TV. TripAdvisor shows a 4.5/5 rating with its fancy new AI review summary tool, which comes to a similar conclusion as I have reading Google reviews.

Price Check

As you can see, when you book four nights, the discount takes effect, reducing the price from €152 to €114 per night:

Booking.com offers the same dates for €626 for the King Room. But if you want to get the Ocean View, the price goes up to €716, which is €266 more expensive than ASW and without any of the perks such as Hyatt points, upgrade, early check-in, and the US$100 (~€93) credit. This makes for a less appealing value proposition.

If you are not planning to book for 4 or 8 nights, or you don’t want the ocean view, you can find better value by booking this hotel with the German tour operator TUI for €122 per night in June. Yet in this case, you won’t get the perks of ASW and have to complete the booking in German.

While you can find cheap nice hotels all around Phuket, five-star resorts like the Hyatt Regency sell for about this price but without ASW’s perks. The Avista Hideaway costs €137 per night without breakfast (non-refundable) on the same dates.
