Star Alliance carriers Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and mostly Ethiopian Airlines team up to bring you an attractive fare from Brussels to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. With two stops in Vienna and Addis Ababa, you can reach the tallest mountain on the African continent for as little as €403 – a fare that includes Ethiopian’s pretty good board service and a checked bag up to 23 kg.
Vaccinated travellers are able to enter Tanzania without prior testing. Unvaccinated travellers require a negative test. You will also need to fill a health form. Find further information here.
Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to Lufthansa’s website with your preselected flight dates. You can buy the cheapest tickets right there.
Each itinerary has two stops: one in Vienna and one in Addis Ababa. Flights within Europe are Brussels Airlines or Austrian Airlines services. An Ethiopian Boeing 787 then takes you from Vienna to Central Africa. The last leg is operated by Ethiopian as well – an Airbus A350 is scheduled to take you from Ethiopia to Tanzania.
Search & Book
The fare rules do not offer an expiration date for this deal. A minimum stay of six days or one night from Saturday to Sunday applies to get the lowest fare. You can find the cheap tickets between September 2022 and March 2023.
Google Flights will help you find additional flight dates, just as Lufthansa’s best price search tool. The former is a bit more precise, the latter has the advantage of being onsite of the vendor.
Mileage
This is a bit tricky: Lufthansa sells all tickets in booking class L. Sadly, we cannot tell you if the four Ethiopian Airlines legs are mapped into Ethiopian L or a cheaper booking class like E. In the worst case scenario, you will get the following mileage with Austrian operating flights between Brussels and Vienna:
- 7,726 Miles on Aegean Miles+Bonus
- 4,440 Award Miles + 758 PQP on United MileagePlus
- 2,664 Miles on ANA Mileage Club
- 2,508 Miles on Air Canada Aeroplan
- 1,932 Miles on Ethiopian ShebaMiles
- 1,932 Miles on Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- 1,320 Award Miles + 200 Points on Miles&More
If you fly the first leg with Brussels Airlines or want to experiment with different Ethiopian booking classes, feel free to use our mileage calculator:
Destination
Hotel prices in the Kilimanjaro areas usually start at roughly €50, depending on the hotel category. Whichever category and hotel you opt for, make sure to get the best price! Our recommendation is to search on booking.com, or even on our own Travel-Dealz hotel search:
Information & Tips for Tanzania
The United Republic of Tanzania is a country in East Africa and probably best known by tourists for the semi-autonomous region Zanzibar. But also people that are into game drives will get their money’s worth in Tanzania since it is home to 4 big national parks. And if that’s not enough, you could still climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africas highest mountain.
Best Time to Visit
There really is no right or wrong time to visit this well-loved location. That said, the best wildlife viewing months in Tanzania are during the Dry season from late June to October. The best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is during June and July and the time to see the wildebeest calving is late January to February.
Entry & Visa
All EU passport holders are eligible for a visa on arrival. The cost of a single-entry visa is about €50 for citizens of European countries.
