Polish travel agency Rainbow is back offering well-priced one-way tickets on Star Alliance member LOT Polish Airlines flights. In March and April 2024, you can fly from Warsaw to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic starting at PLN 999 (~€232). This price already includes a checked bag, although it may be more interesting to pay an additional PLN 649 (~€150) to fly in business class or an additional PLN 399 (~€92) to fly premium economy.
There are three travel dates at the lowest fare: March 30, April 19 and April 26. Business class is only cheap on the 19th. You can book the tickets on Rainbow’s website:
You would fly a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Warsaw, which have a:
- 3-3-3 configuration in economy class
- 2-4-2 configuration in premium economy
- 2-2-2 configuration in business class (lie-flat)
These are charter flights, so there are certain restrictions regarding status benefits, which are outlined on the LOT website.
- Frequent flyers with Star Gold status do not have lounge access in Economy & Premium Economy
- Other status benefits such as additional baggage allowance also may not apply
- Business ticket holders are only allowed into the lounge if they have Star Alliance Gold status
- Changes and cancellations are likely not possible
The Polish airline LOT only has one long-haul aircraft type, the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) – thus every flight will have the exact same seats. Everything is slightly above average, except the seat alignment (2-2-2), which doesn’t offer direct access to the aisle for the window seats. A further disadvantage of flying with LOT: There’s no Wi-Fi, even if you’d be willing to pay for it. So, if you intend to work (with internet access) during the flight, you should choose a different airline.
Search & Book
The Rainbow flight prices fluctuate a lot, so we cannot guarantee that the same prices will be available for a long period. These are one-way fares, roundtrips would be much more costly at PLN 3,999 (~€927). Google Flights shows you these flights with accurate prices, although you’d still need to book through Rainbow.
To select business class or premium economy, you only have to select a flight and then go a bit down and click on the cabin. Note that seat selection is an extra charge in all cabin classes.
Puerto Plata is on the Northern shore of the Dominican Republic, close to the city of Santiago De Los Caballeros.
