Bangkok: €3,223 Swiss or Lufthansa First Class from Oslo

Star Alliance stalwarts Lufthansa and Swiss both offer decent first class prices for trips from Oslo to Bangkok. Prices for these tickets start at NOK 37,757 (~€3,211). You can find these flights from October 2023 through March 2024 if you want to sit in Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 en route to Thailand. Availabilities are even broader when flying with Swiss (and adding a stopover in Zurich each way).

Availability is much broader if you are willing to add a stopover of at least 24 hours in Zurich. However, this will add the cost of accommodation on (at least) one flight and also makes searching flights more difficult. Feel free to use this search mask to look for multi stop flights via Zurich:

Lufthansa offer First Class flights to Bangkok between October 2023 and March 2024. During this time, the airline deploys its re-instated Airbus A380-800 between Munich and Thailand’s capital.

Flights between Zurich and Bangkok are Boeing 777-300ER services with SWISS’ superb First Class suites in a 1-2-1 seating pattern. On flights from Zurich to Bangkok, you will be able to enjoy the airlines’ dedicated First Class lounge in Zurich.

The European flights are business class legs with a blocked middle seat for extra space.

Lufthansa First Class

Lufthansa has its own terminal for First Class passengers! This and the food in Lufthansa’s First Class are widely considered to be among the best. The First Class terminal has its own airport security control, free food, hotel-like rooms with bed and bathtub, and so on. You get driven to the plane in a limousine.

The seat can be turned into a 210 cm long bed (roughly 80 cm wide) and has all the usual comforts, such as power sockets, inflight entertainment, WIFI, and so on.

SWISS First Class

In SWISS’ first class, you’ll be served excellent food in a comfortable seat that can be turned into a flat bed. Usually, the 8 first class seats are in a 1-2-1 formation, meaning that every seat has direct access to the aisle. You’ll be allowed to check in 3 pieces of luggage and bring 2 carry-ons. Search & Book

The fare rules for these tickets offer no sales or expiration date. You need to stay at least 6 days or one night from Saturday to Sunday in Thailand to get the cheapest tickets. The lowest fares show up during these travel periods:

• August & September 2023: Only with a stopover in Zurich
• October 2023 through March 2024: Both with a stopover in Zurich or short layover in Munich
• April & May 2024: Only with a stopover in Zurich

From the airport to the city center

Suvarnabhumi Airport is connected to the city center by train. Trains run between 06:00 and 23:59 approximately every 15 minutes and the journey takes 24 minutes. A taxi ride costs about 400 Baht and takes, depending on the traffic, 30 minutes to more than an hour.
