The Shangri-La Sydney is a cosmopolitan 5-star hotel in a perfect location – its rooms either have a direct view of the famous Harbour Bridge or the iconic opera house. Currently, ASMALLWORLD is offering a decent deal for stays during the Australian summer. This allows you to stay at this hotel for prices starting at €212 per night – including a guaranteed upgrade and breakfast! While the rate allows onsite payment, a cancellation fee of one night applies when you cancel your booking.

The rooms are very large, measuring over 40 m2 and can either be booked with a king bed or twin beds. Possibly, the guaranteed upgrade will be to a room that has a view of the Sydney Opera House. You’ll be informed of the upgraded room up to 48 hours after completing your booking.
The Hotel
The Shangri-La Sydney is a stylish hotel in direct proximity to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The 36-floor hotel offers many amenities, such as a wellness centre, a pool, a gym, and free Wi-Fi.
Previous guests have left good reviews of the hotel (4.3/5 on Google), many praising the excellent customer service, the stunning sunrise views, the spacious rooms, the fully equipped gym, and the retro lifts. The main points of criticism were the hilly location (sometimes problematic for people with mobility issues) and the air con.
The hotel is located in Sydney’s The Rocks neighbourhood, meaning that various sights are close to the hotel, and you also have plenty of public transportation options to take you almost anywhere pretty quickly. The Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, for instance, is only a 5-minute walk away. Circular Quay station is also only around 4 blocks away, from where you can get to many sights and even the airport non-stop, e.g. to Bondi Beach, riding the train for 40 minutes. The Shangri-La is a 20-minute drive away from the airport, which would cost around A$45 (~€27) via Uber.
Price Check
While ASMALLWORLD charges €212 per night, including breakfast, the cheapest room (without a view of the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House) with breakfast on Shangri-La’s website, on the same dates, costs US$263 (~€246) per night. You are, thus, paying over 15% less by booking via ASMALLWORLD.
The price of €212 per night also holds up when you compare it to other 5-star hotels in the area, where you’ll pay more and not even get breakfast, such as the Sheraton Grand Hyde Park (€245), Pullman Quay Grand Harbour (€310), Sofitel Darling Harbour (€275), Park Hyatt (€850), Four Seasons (€330), Pier One Harbour (€240), InterContinental (€220), The Sebel Quay West Suites (€225), or the Harbour Rocks (€210).

Verstehe ich die Stornobedingungen für das Special Offer so, dass mindestens eine Nacht plus Steuern und Gebühren als Stornogebühr für dieses Angebot berechnetet werden, d.h. es ist keine kostenlose Stornierung nach erfolgter Buchung zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt möglich? Weiterhin ist bei Buchung m.E. unklar, ob das Shangri-La Sydney weitere zusätzliche lokale Gebühren erhebt.
Ansonsten wäre ein Aufenthalt mir mich für 2 Pax vom 3. -7.3. 2024 (905€ bzw. 1.490 AUD) für mich interessant.

Hi Matzi! Es scheint, als würde nun immer eine Nacht als Stornierungsgebühr erhoben. Ich habe das “Refundable” aus der Headline genommen. Danke für den Hinweis. Die Angaben sind immer “including sales taxes and charges”, es sollten also vor Ort keine weiteren Kosten hinzukommen.
