Iceland: €133 Nonstop from Amsterdam with Transavia (Checked Bags Add €62)

Iceland

Dutch leisure carrier Transavia has a lot of attractive nonstop fares with departure from Amsterdam. During the 2023/2024 Winter the airline serves Reykjavík, Iceland – selling round trips for as little as €13. Sadly, this fare does not include checked bags. A 15 kg bag comes with the price tag of €62 r/t on Transavia’s website, the cheapest bundle including luggage starts at €219. This fare type will also grant you 10 XP on FlyingBlue.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates for less than €140 for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to Transavia with your preselected flight dates.

Transavia operates Boeing 737-800 airplanes between Amsterdam and Reykjavík. These planes have a 3-3 seating pattern in economy class.

Search & Book

These fares seem to be available between November 2023 through March 2024. Since we couldn’t retrieve any fare rules, we cannot give you information regarding travel time or minimum or maximum stay.

If you want to stay longer, you can search for suiting dates on Google Flights (instructions). Since the cheapest offer with luggage comes from transavia.com anyway, you might want to book there directly.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

If you want to add a checked bag to your flight, you have two options. You can either choose a bundle, that includes other extras such as free choice of seats, as well. Or you can skip that and continue the booking process with your base fare. The latter is usually cheaper.

Mileage

Transavia issues all tickets in booking class N. It won’t get you any miles in any program. By booking the basic fare including luggage, you can earn 10 XP on Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue.

Destination

Hotel prices in Reykjavík usually start at roughly €80, depending on the hotel category. Whichever category and hotel you opt for, make sure to get the best price! Our recommendation is to search on booking.com, or even on our own Travel-Dealz hotel search:
