Oneway: WestJet Tickets from Vancouver to Dublin – Business at €812, Premium Economy at €430 in October

Westjet Elevation Lounge YYC Eingang

Canadian airline WestJet has issued an interesting fare for its quite competitive premium cabins. For just €430 (~CA$629), the airline takes you from Vancouver to Dublin in a premium economy seat. If you are willing to pay €812 (~CA$1,188) for the oneway ticket, you can even sit in business class.

All flights in question require a change of planes in Calgary, where you can join the carrier’s lounge if you go with the more expensive ticket. That and the lie-flat-seat are the only advantages of the business fare, as WestJet’s premium economy also includes priority services, comprehensive food and beverage service and two checked bags. Flights are solely available in October 2023.

Our availability calendar highlights all possible flight dates at the lowest price for trips up to 28 days. It will forward you to WestJet with your selected flight dates.

The business class tickets are limited to four possible dates. You can fly on:

  • October 9
  • October 19
  • October 21
  • October 22

You can enter those in the Go2 box above, as WestJet displays both business and premium economy fares at the same time.

Long-haul are operated by WestJet’s new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. They feature a contemporary business class cabin in a 1-2-1 seating pattern. Reviews of the product have been extraordinarily good. The premium economy section features four rows of seats in a 2-3-2 pattern, compared to the 3-3-3 in economy class.

The short flights are Boeing 737MAX services. No matter if you book business or premium economy, you will be seated in the premium section of the plane. It features seats that are comparable to US carriers’ domestic first class with wide recliner seats in a 2-2 configuration.

According to the fare rules, these tickets are on sale without a sales period for travel between September 26 and October 26, 2023.

You can check Google Flights for additional flight dates or simply use our calendar above. We strongly recommend buying premium tickets directly from the airline.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
