Swiss eSIM provider Yesim not only offers a variety of fixed plans for countries or regions, but they also have an attractive Pay As You Go option, covering more than 140 countries worldwide.
By activating the pay-as-you-go option in the app, Yesim charges you depending on the data used instead of a fixed price for a fixed amount of data. Prices go as low as €1 per Gigabyte, e.g. in the USA. The highest price is €16 per GB. Yesim breaks down the cost per Megabyte, allowing you to surf in different countries of the world for mere cents.

In contrast to data plans, you don’t need to speculate how much data you are going to need for how many days. You also don’t need to install new eSIMs over and over again when switching countries. Compared to other pay-as-you-go plans, Yesim’s offer has the advantage that it is prepaid, so your costs don’t spiral out of hand if you forget to switch it off. You set the limit by how much you top your app.
Popular destinations that allow data usage for the lowest amount of €1.00 per GB include, but are not limited to:
- Albania
- Bulgaria
- Greece
- Macao
- Malaysia
- Turkey
- United States of America
- ….and more
A wide array of destinations is available for €2.00 per GB:
- Australia
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Iceland
- India
- Indonesia
- Singapore
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- Taiwan
- …and more
While these are quite attractive fares for the countries mentioned above, we recommend looking at our eSIM comparison if you are travelling to Japan (€4/GB), Dominican Republic (€7/GB) or the Seychelles (€173/GB (sic!)). You will most likely find a better offer.
How It Works
To install the eSIM, you need an eSIM-compatible smartphone and download the Yesim app (Android / iOS). In order to activate the pay-as-you-go international plan, you need to charge your account with at least 50 Ycoins (= €0.50). You can use a credit card to do that.
In addition to that, Travel-Dealz readers can get 500 Ycoins (= €5) for free when opening a new account. While these cannot be used to activate your account (you still need to purchase 50 Ycoins for activation), you can purchase plans with them or top up the pay-as-you-go plan. All you need to do is redeem this coupon code after activating your account:
After setting up your account, you need to activate the pay-as-you-go option. Open your app and select Internet from the index at the bottom. Then, click Buy Plan
:

There you can select the International eSIM, which is the name of Yesim’s pay-as-you-go fare:

The next step requires you to pay the 50 Ycoins (€0.50) activation fee. The final step is switching on the eSIM in your Smartphone after arriving at your destination.
If you only want to use the data abroad, be sure that you deactivate the eSIM as soon as you leave the country. Otherwise, you might accidentally use it at home, and your credit will vanish without you even noticing.
Our Experience
Our editors tested the Pay-as-You-Go option on multiple occasions. In Canada, it worked absolutely flawlessly from touchdown to take-off, even providing 5G coverage most of the time. After using it in the USA and during a 12-hour layover in Istanbul, Ditmar was delighted by the flexibility. The option to switch it on when needed, using little data for mere cents before switching it off again, convinced him that this was one of the best eSIM offers available. Even better, the first €4.50 are basically free when using our coupon code.
Prices
While Yesim advertises the International eSIM / Pay-as-You-Go on its website, you can also see prices in the app.

The good news is that all prices per Gigabyte are displayed in our eSIM comparison, using real-time data. You can check all the fares that Yesim has to offer and compare them with other providers. You can also sort prices by country to find the best offer for your destination:
